Yep! This was my last update:Stagnant queue for 3 days now. Seems we've rooted out the weak, now it's time to actually start delivering some cards

In your opinion. The poster you responded to gave, what in his view, was a good argument.there is no good argument to say
Is that 15 weeks?Yep! This was my last update:

Yeah. I think it's just a place holder though, people all over the queue positions from a bunch of different cards have the same ETA.Is that 15 weeks?
Understood. Here's hoping for half that then.Yeah. I think it's just a place holder though, people all over the queue positions from a bunch of different cards have the same ETA.
It's worth noting my ETA has never updated, only my queue position. That was just the last log entry for something changing.
If you like to switch every 4 generations and want something to last go 5090. If you just want an upgrade from your 1060 then 5080 more than fits the billI'm still in two minds about mine. I'm coming from a 1060, so a big upgrade no-matter what I end up with, but I do like to buy top-end when I go about things, so I'm really wanting a 5090, especially as I'm seeing a lot of 'meh' reviews for the 5080. I have an MSI 5080 in hand, with a closing window to return. I have two 5090 pre-orders in place, one with OCUK for the Zotac Infinity, which I may even be in the first batch for, but no idea what week/month year that might be. I'm 87 in the queue for the Astral, which is probably my ideal card, but again no real indication other than 'May'.
Do I build my new PC with something like a 4060 which I can then re-use for my kids when a 5090 comes available, or do I stick with the 5080 and risk getting eaten from the inside by FOMO.......
First world problems of course, but I'm honestly undecided at this stage. I've got about 10 days to go either way, so hopefully I get some pre-order updates before then, but given CNY I doubt it.
5080s are widley availableSellers of 5080’s are starting to sell at cost price on eBay… too scared to return to the UK retailer?
If you only upgrade that rarely I'd make it a 6000 series card to be honest. It will likely be a lot more efficient on a new node. Not sure been stuck on a 575w card for a long period of time would be worth it.If you like to switch every 4 generations and want something to last go 5090. It is more the former for me, which is why I think the 5090 will be the right choice in the end. I think there is just some impatience kicking in as it is the last thing stopping my PC build, hence why being tempted to settle for the 5080....If you like to switch every 4 generations and want something to last go 5090. Pretty sure 5080 is on the smaller die5080s are widley available
Not sure why there are more 5080s than 90s coz its the same chip right? but with more defunct cores, only cherry picked chips are used for 5090s?
Also if people are selling it on the bay then its because they cant return it to the retailer for a full refund, needs to be faulty or within a certain time frame.,
My 1060 is getting limiting now, definitely when considering the minimum specs of a lot of games on the horizon, and especially when driving my new monitor setup (57" Odyssey). The time is right for a change, I've just been left a little underwhelmed by the 5080 generational uplift and the 5090 paper release. If you only upgrade that rarely I'd make it a 6000 series card to be honest. Good, I hope they lose money on their preorder that came through earlier than expected, just don’t bloody order the thing.5080s are widley available

I would say though, this forum has been very useful, so thanks for all that regularly contribute. I've been a member of the PC building community for over 30 years now, but tend to lurk in the shadows without posting. It is good to see people still so passionate about such things and offering advice. I will attempt to give a little more back to the community moving forward for sure.
Different chip. 5080 uses the GB203, 400 (normally indicating the chip spec), A1 (revision). It's at nearly the top off the spec for that chip. When the 5080 Ti/Super comes along, it will be a new spin altogether, or a cut down GB202 (the chip used in the 5090).5080s are widley available
