Every time AMD release something I get slightly hyped then it falls flat. The cards do end up being solid but I've grown a bit pessimistic now.

The whole pc gpu landscape is terrible really.

I hear what you are saying but it is a shame because the last two generations from AMD have actually been very good IMO. Look at where the 7900XTX sits now against the 5070Ti, outside of RT performance it’s still a really strong card and it’s two years old at this point. Likewise the 6900/6950 was a very strong performer.

The irony is that this generation AMD could very possibly have competed at the high end again without requiring too much additional performance, given how flat the 50 series looks.

It all relies on Fomo. I don't quite understand how people justify it a lot of the time. Maybe I'm just old but I've came to realise that spending a grand to move from a 3070ti that plays most of my games fine, to a card that plays my game more than fine isn't really all that exciting.

When gta6 arrives on pc then I guess expensive gpus might prove some worth.

Show me where I am getting defensive? My post was lamenting the state we find ourselves in and I’m not defending AMD. That’s the problem with you and your logic yet again. I’m getting at the hypocrisy of some posters giving off about drivers and features and how this all means AMD should be much cheaper or else.

It’s the underlying failed logic that despite what Nvidia do to **** off consumers, it’s up to AMD to save us. Then AMD get the blame when the blame is actually on the consumer.

AMD or Nvidia don’t owe us a thing and if their prices and practices suck it’s the consumer who should vote with their wallet. But the majority clearly don’t.

Who said AMD owe us anything? The issue is their pricing does suck and people have been voting with their wallets, hence why they dropped to single digit market share.

Nvidia pricing is ludicrous and AMD have an opportunity to gain back market share by pricing their cards properly.

It's like you guys think AMD is your friend or something. Surely you should be rooting for them to price cards cheaper and gain market share?

Tbf even then I'm inclined just to pick up a used ps5 pro and be done with it. At least you don't need to wait another 18m or so for release

9070 - £529
9070 XT - £629

First up, with the rumoured performance these cards need to be £100 apart. Any more than that and the XT starts to look like poor value.

Now, the 9070. Rumours for that card's performance put it just shy of the 7900 XT. The 5070 is likely to be a lot slower, with only a marginal improvement over the 4070 Super (putting it roughly in line with a 7900 GRE). With AMD's product being substantially better, and the 5070 likely to be an incredibly unpopular card (in the enthusiast space, at least), AMD can likely get away with close pricing. £529 is a cheeky little £10 undercut as a nod to their cards always being cheaper.

For the 9070 XT, pricing is likely to be key. At best, raster performance will be in line with the 5070 Ti. RT performance will likely be a bit behind (despite a larger generational improvement from AMD). And FSR will continue to trail DLSS (but again by a smaller margin). They're going to need to undercut Nvidia here. £629 undercuts the (seemingly fictional) £729 5070 Ti MSRP whilst maintaining a £100 pice gap with the 9070.

Yeah the whole some have 2 connectors and some have 3 thing pointed to it having just under 325w on the base cards. As that's the max a 2 x 8 pin card can pull. And means that the big oc cards will be a little above 325w. So 300w - 350w ish spectrum

Ever since the "we are not a budget brand" strategy has happened,their share has nose dived.

It also doesn't help their OEM sales share seems to be worse than before. It makes me wonder whether they are asking too much from system integrators too. At least in the UK,the AMD cards are not even cheaper than the Nvidia ones in prebuilt systems if you look at a range of system integrators,which is annoying.

Highly unlikely, don't forget retailers have been sitting on stock of these for at month+ at this point. They aren't going to take them out of the boxes to flash higher wattage bios's. The AIB cards all probably have 330w+ bios anyway, especially the cards with 3x 8 pin.

Not a problem anyway, one of the great things about the Radeon software stack is tuning a card is an all in one process, unlike Ngreedia cards where you're forced to have Afterburner as well to manipulate voltages.

I think the RX9070 pricing is more key because it is replacing the RX7800XT and RX7900GRE and the former is well under £500 now. The higher end RX9070XT is also competing against the RX7900XT,which is around the £580 to £680 point.

At the end of the day whether you love or hate AMD you want them to be doing a lot better than they are. But after so many **** ups over the years it just becomes funny to watch.

Like let's say the 9070xt is 5070Ti performance in every way. What will they do? Give us a £50 discount over nvidia... That won't get them meaningful marketshare or any at all.

5070Ti is not a £729 card. It is £599 at the very best. Really it should have been called a 5070 and be £499.

Just like the 9070XT should be £499. Do that and watch the buzz!

I mean look at how many reviewers hating on the 5000 series. Get price right and they will sing the praises of AMD.

But, if you're lucky, you will get £599 for the cheapest 9070xt. With good ones being closer to £700. Some will be happy, but it won't make much difference to marketshare at all and history will look back at it as another missed opportunity.

Nvidia's goal keeper goes toilet to take a ****. Goal is left open. AMD miss the goal or worse score an own goal. It is just their way these days.

Honestly when you take into consideration real world prices eg the 5070ti isn't £750, it's £850+ I would be over the moon if the 9070ti is legit £599

Obviously I'd prefer 499 but that's just not realistic in 2025.

I think if amd comes in at £200 or more cheaper for the same/similar/better performance it would be wrong to complain that it should be cheaper again. Amd are a business and need to have some sort of return.

I also think if some one buys nvidia instead of amd in the circumstances of 2 cards evenly matched but there's a legit £200+ difference in favour of amd, then you deserve whatever cards & prices nvidia produce going forward.

I'm not an amd fanboy by any stretch, but I'm not going to rip myself off by buying nvidia if there's an alternative that's much cheaper and gives me similar performance. (I've had many more nvidia cards than radeon, in fact until I bought the 6950xt in the summer, I've never owned an amd card, it was ati the last time I had a radeon card)

There's a number of games with Nvidia sponsored stuff that run relatively poorly but still well.

375W is max with two 8 pins and the slot, 150W per 8 pin and 75W through the edge connector.

I've been driving myself nuts debating returning my xtx and trying to get something newer but having tried loads of new games and looking at benchmarks, it's still a beast of a card at 4k, add in lossless scaling and it plays stuff at 4k 144hz brilliantly. There's a number of games with Nvidia sponsored stuff that run relatively poorly but still well.

The XTX is probably the 4th fastest raster card on the market with the 2nd most vram. Unless you can get a 4090 cheap or a 5090 your not going to get any real noticeable improvement on that card
