My mouse always feels sticky and gross, no matter how much I clean it

I've tried cleaning it was soapy water and baby wipes but it just feels really sticky and gross all the time, I think the coating has worn off, would that cause it? It's a Razer Basilisk V3 which I've only had two years, and I don't really want to spend another £50 when it's working perfectly otherwise. And obviously I'm washing my hands with soap before touching it.

Is it rubberised plastic?

On the sides yeah, textured rubber.

Well that's your problem. The oils in rubberised plastic break down making it sticky.

I've had lots of things with rubberised plastic after about 10 years it goes sticky. Remote controls, kitchen utensils, power tools, joysticks, remote controls, etc

Use rubbing alchol. You might also need to use a green scouring pad as well.

I kinda ****** it, I'm not sure how but baby wipes stripped some of the rubber now it feels even worse. So I guess I can either use 100% ISO to remove all the rubber or just buy a new one.

Yes it'll strip the rubber away, go back to the plastic, but it's better than being sticky.

Cleaning it removing the stickyness with something less (like a normal cleaner) may help but it'll come back.

The old style sticky rubber brands used once it goes to that state it's done for. You must use IPA to rub away the texture leaving just bare plastic and can then do whatever like a skin or plastidip which has grippy finishes available.

Brands that put more effort into the rubberised texture grips like Logitech don't have this issue, at least on the MX Master series anyway and G series I had in the past.

My Steelseries Sensi mouse has textured rubbery sides @MrH, just over a year old and whilst not too sticky like yours, wet glue is leaking from the bottom. I'd be tempted to try another brand, I'm going to once the textured part starts to come loose.

Having tried Razer mice before now (Viper V3) I am certain that some plastics cause the hand to sweat more than normal.

I sent the V3 back because of it, after just a week.

Now, before I buy a mouse I watch as many reviews as possible until someone comments on the type of plastic it's made from (and assures me it's a matte or dry texture).

There's a LOT of mice options (if on the final "whelp, new mouse" option) that have vastly better build quality. Aware of exactly the stickiness razer thing, they all eventually go that way (had a Habu from new, moved to another mouse, picked it up again after about 6 months non-use - sticky mess), seems it's part of the "planned obsolescence" built into razer stuff.

G502 looks like it would be close. Logitech have their own issues (microswitches eventually get no/double clicky) but generally vastly more longevity than razer kit.
