NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

They're all as bad as each other... however, if after jumping through all the anti-consumer bull**** hoops, you end up spending hundreds of pounds less than OCUK, then OCUK is still worse, imo.

If you pre-ordered for £2,200 and the other site asks you for an extra £100 or gtfo, is that better than paying £2,700 outright on OCUK for the same card?
This guy gets it.

What are they doing that’s so terrible compared to everyone else? Honest question. I have no skin in the game here.
Preorders where they're taking full cash upfront, after taking the full amount, the price is subject to change if it goes up (almost guaranteed to be more likely) then you have to cough up the difference, queue position being jumped by those who order prebuilds. Obviously that doesn't mean others are any better, but that doesn't mean you just excuse a retailer because there's an even worse one doing shady stuff. Tbh, this launch has been pretty revealing, when it comes to next gen, you can pretty much guarantee that if you don't get it at launch from nvidia directly, then the price is going to be atleast 10-20% markup from whatever "RRP" is supposed to be.

If there isn’t a big drop of Zotac 5090’s (with all the ROPs) soon I’m tempted to cancel my order and just reorder when stock is plentiful.

I’m still way back in position 205 of the queue and reckon it’ll still be a couple of months to get my hand on it.

I’m thinking being further back in the queue might be better if you get a later manufactured sample that may potentially suffer from 0.5% less issues than current!

Isn't that just supply and demand. If i owned a store i would sell at whatever i could sell for. Customers have 2 options wait for supply to increase which sjould lower prices or pay inmflated prices to be the first to have. You cannot blame stores for making money its what they here for at the end of the day and if you do not liek it buy elsewhere its what i did and it wasnt even dificult
Are you running the supermarkets, gas and electricity suppliers? Capitalism baby!

I’m not in a super in a rush to upgrade so I am not if I should preorder a specific card or just play the luck game as they restock over the next few weeks/months for a 507ti.

Coming from a RTX2070

I'll probably have to cite a credible source of web archiving where those terms weren't laid out when I bought mine. It looks like they updated their pre-order page with that caveat of price going up and couging up the difference.

I have screencaps of the original terms, and a lot of people (myself included) have the original order confirmation -- both were updated a few days later.

Yes. I have to agree with that. Those T&Cs were not made obvious prior to, or at, point of sale. They only became obvious after the pre-order purchase was made. Very obvious after taking our money. Makes me think there may have been a lack of up front and clear info with the T&Cs prior to checkout. It may have been there but they certainly didn't point it out so clearly during purchase as they did post purchase. Like you though, if they do try and charge more just prior to dispatch I'll certainly be doing a bit of investigation on when and how these T&Cs were introduced.
On the other hand, if the purchase price is honoured then all's good.
