Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

That’s been the case the whole week lol. Even 500 is nearly wiped out the last year. The more risky pie I’ve got is down 12%. RR is holding up okay for now. Earnings on 27th afaik. May just bounce enough to get me out of red. But I’m not selling. These are all 5-10 year investments for me.

RR is probably one of the better ones to be in.
Euro defense. I'm still contemplating buying into some EU defense stocks.. But not sure if I've missed the boat.

I'm not sure I agree. Markets at an all time high, crazy volatility from Trump and Russia/Ukraine, AI bubble and meme stocks at record valuations, there's plenty of room for this to carry on falling.
If you think the markets are overheated and you want to exit or take profits....then make a considered decision to do it, and do it when the markets have had a GOOD day. This Is what I did back in November/December.

Don't panic selling after a big drop and crystallise more losses than you need to. Just making trades off the back of emotional impulses like is a massive red flag. Same as I don't react to FOMO because I'm mostly cash :p

I have just had a nibble and bought back in some Intel though ;)

Why? These stocks just get swept up in euphoria. Their price isn't based on reality.
LUNR has a contract worth billions with nasa

Intuitive Machines (LUNR) has multiple contracts with NASA, including a $4.82 billion contract for communication and navigation services and a study contract for lunar logistics.
literally twice their market cap.

then go look at other companies, loads are with a market cap that dwarves their revenue

I'm still well up (I don't buy individual stocks) but it's reminded me that I am actually retired and YOLO'ing everything in high risk funds is perhaps not the best idea for a stress free retirement. :D
The S&P500 is still only 3% below its peak so this turmoil has not hit the wider market much.

Yes the S&P has been brilliant for me over the years, but as a soon to be 60 year old retiree (I've been retired three years today) it's time to be a little more sensible. I'm still 80% invested in a world tracker (ex UK, but I might revisit that if we're going to ramp up industry a bit)

Yeah. It totally makes sense for you.

I'm just surprised at the general panic in here on such small moves.

what a lot of people aren't mentioning is the timescale for their investments

If it's pension money / ISA money that's 5-10 years or MORE away from needing it - then totally agree - why panic - leave it invested.

If it's short term money, I can understand some concerns but I agree with you - the panic in here is a bit silly.

I doubt many people in here are actually actively "trading" the stockmarket - most are investing.

It's a great time for me to make a lump sum employer contribution to my pension - top up on a VWRL and VAUG and review it in 12 months time.

Sold everything I had which was in a green position last week, as will need the majority of it for a deposit when I house hunt later this year. Wasn’t the peak, but I think there’s too much uncertainty to leave it in there another few months!

I’ll just go get the £1mil premium bond prize instead.

At time of writing for the year:
fste 100 is up 13.45%
s&p 500 is up 17.47%
Vanguard All world is up 16.27%
stop the panic :)

indeed. As at today

My SIPP is up 13.23% in last 3 months. 80% is EFT's/trackers with some Tesla/First Group/Ferrexpo shares and a couple of dogs in there - Kodal Minerals / Argo Blockchain.

It was maybe 14.5/15% before this week's pull back... No reason to change anything.

How much profit are they making then?
IDK but tbh it was kind of a retard take.

They have earnings next month.

I mean the contracts worth twice their market cap, but its over a few years and they have to keep hitting targets.

but, compared to pltr etc whats pltr market cap 200b? and they make what 3bn total revenue? even AMD 100bn market cap on 25bn revenue.

its not some overhyped meme, its a serious company
This should be launching towards the moon on a Spacex Falcon 9 rocket tonight, or friday

For the record I sold every stock I owned in the lasty 2 days, but I was up like 80-100%+ on nearly all my stocks.

definetly keeping an eye on buying back into LUNR and Rocket Lab once the knife seems to have stopped falling on the market.
