TBH DSC is something I look forward to, my 1080ti can't do it, so I can't use 10bit colour on my 4k monitor unless i drop to 120hz, I also can't use HDR in all it's glory. So if i end up upgrading (which I probably would, reading Gibbos comments supply should be good) I think ill notice a lot better vibrancy in a lot of games.

IIRC it’s 187hz max at 10 bit colour (HDR). Which is still quite a lot of legroom!!

Some people don’t run into these issues. But I did… and it’s very annoying

I suppose if you have a GPU that's 200 FPS capable at 4K you will, i see what you're saying, i have no doubt the 5090 can do that in some instances, i can run Doom Eternal at 100 FPS with RT and all the IQ settings maxed out, this with a 7800 XT so a 5090 could do 4K 200 FPS in its sleep.

But for a 9070 XT its not a problem...

Yeah it’s all good, just as long as you know what you might bump into.

As I said, I run into DSC issues >144hz at 4K using DP1.4 with a 3090.

It happens when playing indie games, like Inscryption. I was like oooo yeah 160hz (157 limited in NVCP) and the screen kept dying every so often… argh! WTF was going on? Monitor broken? Bad cable?!

I’ll never know for sure but by lots of testing (and the lack of DSR factors in NVCP - a tell tale sign FYI) then I’m betting it was DSC.

And it’s really ****ing annoying that Windows / NVCP doesn’t give you the courtesy of expressly telling you what it’s outputting at (enabled or not)… other than giving you info to allow you to make an educated assumption.

I think many premium monitors may be built to be capable enough to mitigate these nuisances (unlike my current relatively budget one). It’s not a point that comes up often in reviews other than “you can’t visually tell the difference”. But it does cause lots of issues… the most major annoyance for Nvidia users is screen blanking when alt tabbing out of games… running a game full screen borderless can help on that.

Once the 7800 and 7900 is gone there will be nothing else which means people buy what’s available as it’s rather slim pickings at present.

It is crazy to think in 2025 the only GPU with more than 16gb RAM will be the £2000-£3000 5090

At this point I feel like something pretty terrible would have to happen between now and launch for me to not buy a 9070xt, specifically looking at the pulse. Just needs to be priced half decently and have performance in the ballpark of the rumours. I upgraded the rest of my system last year and am just waiting for a gpu to finish it off, and 5070ti and up too expensive for the performance, and the 5070 and below doesn't look like it will have enough grunt to be worthwhile.

Yeah same here. I have 800 to spend, obviously would rather pay less. Just ordered a 9800x3d system so this will hopefully complete it and leave me happy for at least a few years.

You don't need 10bit for HDR, my OLED screen handles it perfectly well with 8bit+FRC - multiple professional comparisons I've seen online found visible quality to be identical unless it's professional monitor for Hollywood with 500% magnification. In other words, a normal person will never notice any difference and it lowers bandwidth needs considerably.

You’re one of the few that is objective having owned both sides cards.

$700 for a 60ti class card (9070XT) and performance that could have been had for similar pricing last year is poor value and not going to get traction in the market unless everyone is doollaly.

$700 would be a very stupid move considering they compared with the 7900GRE in the latest leak. The GRE was around $549 so if we get 30% more performance than the 7900GRE but at around 30%% price increase then AMD may as well close shop.

$700 for 325mm die and 16gb ddr6 is big margins for amd and partners, so I expect the xt to be $699 and the none xt $649, OC aib cards north of these prices.
