OcUK GUIDE TO ORDERING YOUR AMD 9070 GRAPHICS CARD TODAY AT 14:00

Some of the non-XT cards seem to be available, though £525 for the Pulse for (approx) a 50% uplift in performance over the 3070, hmmm… not sure.
Maybe I should just wait. Probably OOS by the time I go to buy it anyway. :D

Edit: nope. Thought I'd select it just to see what happens, and then when viewing basket it says out of stock. Thought it was too good to be true. :)
I did, however, manage to place the Red Devil in my basket - which is in stock, but then quickly realised it was the non-XT variant (£600). No flipping way!

I don't understand who is buying a scalped 9070 xt, its good but only when its at MSRP, otherwise its just another GPU

Its truly bizarre.

There wasn’t silly demand for £800+ cards at this performance level last year, so why is there now

Why are people suddenly paying £950 for a 7900xtx again when they could be had for under £800 most of last year...?

The whole thing just makes zero sense.

IKR when you can just settle for a 7900 xt at a far more reasonable price. If i cant get my hands on this one at MSRP I will just hold off and see what happens, maybe supply will increase and meet demand eventually

When more those cards going to be delivered? I mean overall, not those batches today, more stock basically.
Hope it will be soonervthan stupid nvidia cards.

FOMO? Probably people caught up in the hype train and thinking the 9700xt is as good as 5090.

But if they are all educated enough to know to be sitting with their credit card ready at 2pm today, surely they know enough about a card's performance etc?

Id still rate the 7900XTX much better outside of RT lol

But you're absolutely right

The complany with 90% market share have just stopped selling cards

Just checked ebay again (why do I do that to myself anyway?) Someone has 3 flipping cards for sale! Ok each different types but still.. and the hellhound listed for >1000.. jesus.

I was talking about the fools who were buying at the scalpers prices on flea bay - Those types are headline buyers imho.

Are these gpus even that good when it comes to AI or compute compared to others (Nvidia), surely gamers aren't going to pay stupid money for these on the bay or wherever?
These are not that great for AI yet, though it will get ROCm support used for training AI models, so it has that going for it, but generally 16GB RAM is not enough for AI enthusiasts.

The 9700 XT mainly represents great value for gaming at MSRP (and maybe a tiny bit over), especially for those that have not upgraded in a while.

As generally most SKUs come with PTM7950 pads, increasing the longevity and maintaining the performance of the card over the long term.

And on top of that, most SKUs use 2/3x 8-pin power connectors instead, increasing compatibility across many systems and avoiding the car crash that is the 12VHPWR connector.

Also, hopefully there will not be any missing ROPs-equivalent on the AMD side...

Maybe those who are twitchy will go for scalped ones, but I would rather wait for another drop, even at slightly higher prices, and fingers crossed, maybe AMD and their partners might even extend the MSRP discount.
