*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

I had to fight myself not to go for the XT too and have a non-XT Pulse order confirmed.

The matched efficiency of a 5070 but outperforming it in raster and doing much better in RT (that I've never used) than previous AMD generations at least tempers my self kicking... I mean for several reasons the non-XT was the right one for me but the price difference was constantly fighting me.

Plus the non-XT means I can still use my WiFi card

Who knows, there may come a time they can be flashed with an XT vbios...
Not sure that the don't physically damage the card these days to prevent them being flashed to a non gimped card. Still, congratz on getting an upgrade, I briefly considered a non XT myself, but dismissed it. I'll carry on with my 6600XT until there comes a point I can't juggle the quality/performance to something acceptable.

Weren’t there meant to be thousands of cards at OCUK according to Gibbo? Can’t imagine they were all sold so quickly.
It does make sense to me. Forgetting the recent Nvidia launch, we've had past launches with more normal amounts of stock where these types of launch day shenanigans occurred. I do believe that they had thousands of cards, we even saw the Sapphire Pulse borg cube in OCUK Warehouse and I do believe those thousands sold out.

Add in this time that the usual Nvidia buyers are SOL and there's nothing previous gen available to buy, the decent reviews for 9070XT and the masses hungry for anything not terrible. We've had folks in this very thread who bought 5000 series, who planned to sell/cancel their Nvidia purchases in order to go for what AMD has on offer this time around. It makes sense that there is plenty of demand. Now I'm looking at this going forward, will AMD and their AIB partners continue to supply large numbers of GPUs to retailers or was this release day stock pile only a result of the wait from January?

My plan was always to look at this in a few months time, later on in the year to see what pricing of these AMD GPUs are like. The trend with AMD GPUs is that they usually go down over time to more stomach-able prices. I guarantee that will happen for the poorly priced 9070 non-XT, the same way it quickly did for the 7700XT and 7900XT last gen. Even with this fake MSRP rumour... prices of AMD GPUs do usually go down after launch. That said... I could be eating a hat this time around if for some reason they don't and AMD magically starts doing better in GPU market share. Once the launch hype and initial demand dies down, I reckon the prices will start to trickle down.

That said, I wouldn't tell folks to give up on getting one around launch either. I reckon there's a reason why Sapphire Pulse prices haven't gone up, after selling out and potentially a reason why they still show as in stock. Knowing how OCUK do things... it ain't over till it's over. If they had thousands at launch... then hopefully that means good supply going forwards. Even with Intel B580, they got more MSRP models delivered and available to order days after launch that folks were able to buy.

All that said... I'm still miffed that AMD pulled a shifty one by not giving us reference cards this time round for more MSRP options. I still reckon the cards should have been around £50 cheaper in general and the non-XT closer to £400 for the performance it brought.

Yay, I got one, and only paid £569.99
Nice, which model and was it from here?

GN has a review of the 9070 up. He likes it.
Now that doesn't make sense... why is a 9070 non-XT acceptable but a 5070 isn't?

True enough. To be fair it'll go into the second pc at some point so the efficiency means more to me than a vbios flash.

Yeah, bit of an upgrade - replacing a gtx 1080

Now to finally buy Cyberpunk lol.

MSRP cards just went poof here in Denmark in seconds. Also one of the big retailers really pooped and handled the whole thing very poorly. The buy button would only appear in every 100 refreshes and on random models and even when you got the button to appear it didn't work. I ended up with a 9070 non xt from another place for around 30% less than what the overpriced XT models cost. Now i'm just waiting for the order to be handled. Paid 449 quid before tax and 561 after tax. The XT's were selling for 750ish which I just found to be horrible pricing. The XTs at MSRP here were around 595ish quid with tax but you couldn't buy one even if you tried :S

yeah but the real rrp is £620 not £570 as once the £50 rebate goes away it's gonna be £620 so it should really be RRP of £620 with a launch discount of £50 for the first X customers
pretty much the usa price was $599 so £620 sort of sits about where they said

I've put a pre order in for the Nitro+ £699 would be £130 more than the Pulse but looking at the crazy prices I'm seeing on auction sites I'll see what happens!

Just gutted I missed the pulse today! Was all set and ready until the OcUK site went into meltdown

It was obvious with the Nvidia paper launch that everyone and their mother who failed at securing an Nvidia is going to go for the 9070XT. This will not change until the 5070/ti become widely available.

Some observations from down under

* Seems to be plenty stock, my local retailer still has plenty 9070XT in stock as of writing across its various stores

* The 9070xt and 9070 non xt are the same price for some reason

* converted to pound, the 9070xt here is 570 pounds. This price includes GST tax

* prices in the USA are way higher thanks to tariffs, the Americans may have the highest price for the 9070xt in the world
