OcUK GUIDE TO ORDERING YOUR AMD 9070 GRAPHICS CARD TODAY AT 14:00

I don't think my post came across as foaming at all?
Sorry, the foaming comment was not directly aimed at you but more towards the thread and general hype which just isn’t warranted.

Basically stated my 3090 is on its way out so after similar if not better performance at imo a reasonable price point with 16GB VRAM.
Which makes it an utterly terrible deal when you consider how old the 3090 is.
I can definitely see used prices continuing to go up though if the supply of cards is like this with scalpers hoovering up the majority of stock...even CEX have raised their buy prices on a lot of the older gen of cards in the past couple of weeks.
I doubt scalpers have the majority of stock, I doubt they even have a material %.
The 3080 has 69% the performance of a 9070xt nitro at 4k according to tpu. That means it's 44% faster than a 3080
Yes but the 9700XT isn’t a ‘4K card’ and hardly anyone is going to be running it at 4K because it gets sub 30fps in games like Black Myth Wukong and sub 60FPS in Cyberpunk.

Yes I know I have picked 2 games which are notionally hard to run, but let’s not forget Cyperpunk came out over 4 years ago. This is a sign of the kind of performance you can expect doing forward at 4K.

Both cards get 50% more FPS at 1440p and are much better suited to that resolution (as is the 3080).

Only people with deep pockets are running native 4K without fake frames because frankly, they are the only people who can afford it and that has pretty much always been the case.

In any case, according to the relative performance graph at the end of the written review, at 4K, the 3080 is still within 21% of this card.

At £630 I’m not attracted even when stick returns.

9070 XT MSRP $600 in GBP (with vat added) = £557

5070TI MSRP $750 in GBP (with vat added) = £698

THE AMD products are £630. The Nvidia products are £730. Massive markup. Not OCs fault but it’s there.
What's the chance of actually getting a 5070TI at near that price during the next 6 months though? The cheapest I see them on OCuk is £799 and there's no FE edition, to me £170 is a big difference. I'd be happy to pay £60 over the odds for a 9070xt but £100 on the already expensive 5070TI is too rich for me.

According to tech power up, this card is only 12% faster than a 3090 which was released 4.5 years ago.

This isn’t an upgrade.

it’s only 21% faster than my 3080 which I paid £650 for which is basically the going rate for a nonMSRP card.

To re-iterate, 21% performance uplift for the same cash price I paid for a 3080 4.5 years ago.

Please stop foaming over this, it’s not a good value.

The fact I could still sell my 3080 for good money at this point is insane.
Actually according to Techpowerup it's 29% faster @ 1920x1080, 31% faster @ 2560x1440 and 31% faster @ 3840x2160 than 3080 in raster. For RT it's 24% faster @ 1920x1080, 24% faster @ 2560x1440 and 40% faster @ 3840x2160.
If you spent £650 in 2020 that would cost £809.41 in 2025 according to BOE inflation calculator.
So it's really a ~30% increase in performance for ~24% less money.

My Guy...

This is a very good 4k card, VERY good. I run games in 4k in my 1080ti.

This touches the 4080 are you saying a 4080 wasn't a 4k card?

The 5090 can't run some games in 4k at 60fps settings are you saying that's not a 4k card?

The visual difference between max settings and high is small to negligible, yet the performance hit is massive, I'd very very interested to see some 4k stats at high settings.

This card will run 4k in most games easily, you have picked 2 games where even the 5090 struggles. The reviews I've seen it hits 60fps in CP77 (unless youre talking RT)

This is easily a viable 4k card for anyone.

Put in a request to cancel my order after seeing the Techspot review, not enough of a performance leap for me, the 16GB of ram would have been nice though.
Maybe it would've been a good idea to check the review before ordering one, would've saved yourself the trouble of trying to get through the ordering system, and maybe freed up a rebate/order for someone who knew they wanted one.

I mean I'm not telling you what to do or anything but maybe check the reviews first next time.

Yeah, it's a shame that someone else missed out on a MSRP card.

Actually 3090 20% slower than 9070XT and 3080 is 31% slower.

I did check the techpowerup review and it looked a decent card, then I did more searching today after feeling a bit of buyer's remorse and then I came upon the techspot review and the card I ordered only had a 3% benefit with the higher clock speeds and the techspot review showed that the gains over my existing card were not really worth paying a high price for.
The card I ordered didn't really have a rebate, I ordered the 9070 XT Taichi.
