Not a paper Launch, okay....
46% of all GPU's sold were at MSRP, Right....

So its just really weird, he's screaming at the camera, AMD did bad.... and yet the only thing that he can point to was that a small number of the highest end versions sold at 42% above MSRP, that's ridiculous, yes... but what do you want AMD to do about that? Do you want them to chastise their partners for making over priced versions of the cards?

Other than that i don't get it, its a lot of noise, a lot of performative anger and there doesn't even seem to be a reason for it.

Because its GN, he just want's something to moan about. It's just sensationalist nonsense.
MSRP is just a suggested price, there's no reason or law that suggests that AIB's must sell something at MSRP.
Pricing is ultimately determined by supply/demand, and at the moment people are fully happy to pay ridiculous prices for GPUs as they keep selling out.

Controversy sells, positivity doesn't. GN has a lot of good content but sometimes he will chuck out some guff like this (or beat a dead horse).

I think GN Steve is right. They should have a realistic MSRP price. They should set a price that gives the AIB a good profit and maybe release their own AMD models. Right now, if the MSRP price is unrealistic, then no one can blame the AIB. Most likely the MSRP was unrealstic to begin with.
 
I think GN Steve was right in that the reasoning behind these price rises are immaterial when it comes to the consumer - in the past it was normal to pay up to 5-15% extra outside XOC AIB models (as he outlines in the video), but now that margin is doubled at least, it's a bit daft. Whether this is down to TSMC, AMD/Nvidia, AIBs, distributors, retailers, whatever, it doesn't matter. It's still egregious and he's right to call it out.

It seems like there's a massive web of internal politics going on the entire supply chain, and the dung is rolling right down onto the consumer. Simply saying "don't buy" isn't a real solution, because the people who aren't posting about this on forums (probably, what, 90% of people buying dGPUs) are going to see the prices, shop around, and buy the cheapest one (like you would do anything else), without knowing that the cheapest one is overpriced.

Same boat bud. Been on Order Confirmed since 1638hrs Thursday. Not getting my card today, so much for NBD delivery.

The worst thing is lack of communication. If your going to shut your phone lines because you are busy at least answer your customers one and only line of communication, tickets, in a timely manner or put something on your own forums.
 
I think someone from OCUK has to come here & possibly look into the cases of people who ordered the GPUs on the day who haven't had any update or correspondence about what is happening

Having sent in three tickets & still not one reply since Saturday - its not the Biggest priority in life & I get that but when people understand what is happening then its easier for them to know if & or when they are getting a card which will be dispatched soon

Feels like they have just focused on getting Pulse and Reaper cards out..

There's plenty of things that AMD can do to ensure the MSRP actually exists, infact Steve even mentioned a few in that video, ie he talked quite a bit about the fact them having their own reference card would have helped.

I think you're being a bit disingenuous with your other comments too. 46% of all GPUs were sold at MSRP, but that was just launch day, there's countless of examples in that video from retailers saying they can't sell anymore at MSRP, so that's the best people are getting, that 46% is only going down from now on. We've even got an example here at OCUK.

I think it is pretty rubbish that you've got the situation with both Nvidia and AMD where they're promoting a new card under a price but then it can't actually be gotten at that price, infact it can't be gotten even that remotely close to it. It's basically a lie, and the buck stops at AMD/Nvidia because it's got their name on it.
 
Steve & GN is right. Whilst 40% ish may be at MSRP from Microcentre, those who dont have one near them or the rest of the world it was more like 5%.
5% at MSRP is appaling. I dont see Apple/Sony etc scamming their own customers with fake MSRP's on in demand products.
