What book are you reading...

I'm currently on the last book of the Nuclear dawn series by Kyle Stone. Pretty decent read, not quite up there with her "edge of" series but still, very readable.

After the original Foundation trilogy, I read Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, which was great... and now I'm reading The Trial by Rob Rinder, which isn't :p

Ready Player One
Seems much better than the film!
I'm also reading this at the moment. I'm about 2/3rds of the way through and really enjoying it. I've only seen the film once (when it was released in the cinema) but can't really remember much about it. The book feels much different - in a good way.

Almost finished the first of Asimov's Foundation prequel books - Prelude To Foundation. Took a bit of getting into but towards the end we do get the character of Raych appear on the scene who of course plays a pivotal role in S1 of the TV show.

But currently trying to get my head around what order to actually read the books in - it appears the original stories were written back in the fifties, so having to fit that in with the later books which appeared in the 80's.

I just finished The Annual World's Best Sf 1984 edited by Robert Wollheim.

Most stories were good with one absolutely outstanding. A man's consciousness awakens in the body of a giant lobster in the far future. Can he adapt, and what will that mean?

Just finished Dune Messiah, I liked the last half better than the first, some sub plots could have had more depth.///

Overall I enjoyed it more than I thought, no idea how they translate that to film, i'm sure Dune geeks would like it, but it will need a decent adaption to appeal to a wider audience.

Having a break before book 3.

Started Howling Dark by Christopher Ruocchio, book 2 of The Sun Eater series. It's paced a lot better than book 1 but I really, really cannot stand his prose. So it's now on my audiobook TBR.

In its place, I've picked up The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne. Heard many great things of this author and of this book. So far it's fantastic.

I had a similar problem, and stopped reading book 2 about 1/4 of the way through.

I really like John Gwynnes' books, his Faithfull & Fallen series is excellent, The Bloodsworn Saga is already on my Kobo waiting to be read.

Almost finished the The Shining, first Stephen King book I've ever read. Really enjoyed it, wasnt at all what I expected but found it an easy read Any suggestions for the next one to go for? I like the sound of The Stand, but it's a bit of a door stopper.

Get the extended version of The Stand- you'll fly through it, it's probably his best book.

Also try his short story collections. Night Shift is superb, but they're all really good!
