Agree. It's a royal pain in the a$$ without it, constantly trying to remember to keep an eye on your speed and then finding yourself doing 24-25 mph anywayCruise control is great for all of the 20mph zones introduced in Wales. It's a godsend.

19" was definitely an option. The defacto wheels of the 987 generation are the Spyder wheels - which are 19".the gen2 currently has 19” lobsters on it. I didn’t know if these are standard/option or were put on from another model?
My google-fu shows that 19” lobsters are a thing but not much about them being a cayman option.
I think I’ll spend a bit more to get into a 2010 gen2 with 80k on it.
£500 is a good price. I paid £450 for an OPC to retrofit cruise control to a 987 about 8 years ago. Thanks, chaps. Looks like CC can be retrofitted for around £500 at the dealers?
Had my offer accepted and should have it sorted by next weekend.
Quick summary is
2010 987.2 Cayman
75k miles
Options: Pretty minimal with heated seats, crest headrest, 19" lobsters
Work: Xpipes done, serviced before handover by local specialist, recent rear discs/pads done, 4 new tyres
That is gorgeous, the colour scheme works incredible well, plus it's a nice change from resale guards/silver/black.Deposit down on my first Porsche ever ... it wont float everyone's boat, but I am looking forward to collecting in a couple of weeks time
Hijacked the photo from the original advert:
It is green, with full leather interior in tan. I think its called rainforest green, but not sure ? a bit more obvious in this picture:

Its only the baby 2.7 5 speed, but good spec and lots of money recently spent. including nearly £1600 on a new genuine Porsche android auto/ Carplay HU, Genuine Porsche shortshift, new N rated Goodyear tyres all round, new rear disks and pads, full geo set-up.
Dealer is also going to fit new front discs and pads, sort the hood elastic, and a full detail.
How did you find Pembrey? It's is a blast on a bike. It's quite narrow for a car, like Llandough. Not driven a car on there though; keen to hear your thoughts.I had my first track day in my GT4. Was at Pembrey which I've never driven before.
All went well but I was surprised how quickly the tyres went off. It has the OEM Dunlops and 7K miles on them, I boguht at 5K. Don't know if it was tracked before I bought it.
They just dropped off a cliff. All fine then suddenly I'm hanging on to it and the traction light is having a meltdown.
I'm going to get a set of Cup2s for the upcoming Germany trip. I'm also going to get a set of Apex 19s and put Conti7 on those. They'll be my knocking about set and keep the OE wheels plux Cup 2 for track.
Lad at Pembrey had these beautiful BBS wheels on his GT4. So nice but £2.5K a corner!
987 is more raw and mechanical in feel. The 981 is more refined and compliant. It depends on which of those two you prefer.Looking for advice from those a bit more knowledgeable please.
Finally in a position to get a fun/weekend car with a budget of up to £30k. Got a few cars on list but Cayman/ boxster are high on list of desirables.
Looking at what's about it seems I could get into a 987S with cash to spare, a decent 981 2.7 or maybe even a higher mileage 981S.
So, my question is , is the 981 in either flavour the better car? My problem is there aren't that many of any of them up here for sale to arrange test drives unfortunately.
Just for info f-type is also on the list, also z4 or M2/3, all of which I realise are very different and once I get test drives my mind may well be made up for me

Very much so. Looking at reviews the sweet spot seems to be the V6S. Going for a V8 with my budget would be at the bottom of the market which probably wouldn't be an issue but you never knowA V8 F type makes a pretty compelling counter argument to a 981. Very different animals.
Could you elaborate on this at all please? I’m currently considering a 981S/GTS and am interested as to why you’d avoid chrono, is it strictly to avoid padm?If I were doing it again, having recently sold my 981 S, I’d be in a manual 981 Boxster and I’d look for one which has been well looked after, but not necessarily full Porsche service history.
No chrono or PASM, 18 or 19 inch wheels. PDLS ideally. Everything else a bonus.

Same issue on some of the 718 cars (same mounts, I think?) with the PADM system. They are pricey to replace but you can just code them out if you didn't want to pay the exuberant amount to replace.Yes, exactly that. My local Porsche specialist have a shelf of them to represent how many they’ve repaired, and that’s only from the cars they’ve sold.
The 981 is generally a very reliable car, but the dynamic engine mounts are currently a source of pain for 981 owners and they’re pricey to repair. The alternative is you keep the car in warranty, but that’ll require OPC servicing and Porsche only parts, which you can now only buy through Porsche.
I now wouldn’t take a Porsche to anyone other than Precision Porsche. They have a technical knowledge, skillset and business acumen I’ve never seen before.
No PASM because, while reliable, will be expensive to repair as well when the shocks go. The standard suspension is still really, really good. Especially on 18 inch wheels.
