Has anyone attempted to retrofit wireless charging on the 987.2 caymans?

I’m waiting to get one of those aliexpress head unit with reverse camera. Seems like a simple usb wireless pad in the armrest/under the headunit will do just fine?
Does it have the 12v outlet in the passenger foot well like the 718? This is where mine takes its feed - it charges OK but phone gets very hot. I have a double USB outlet there as it also powers a Racebox Mini I have. I was going to hard wire it but at the time I'd been taking the interior apart for other things and couldn't face doing it again. :)

Thanks, chaps. Looks like CC can be retrofitted for around £500 at the dealers?
Had my offer accepted and should have it sorted by next weekend.
Quick summary is
2010 987.2 Cayman
75k miles
Options: Pretty minimal with heated seats, crest headrest, 19" lobsters
Work: Xpipes done, serviced before handover by local specialist, recent rear discs/pads done, 4 new tyres
Have you got it yet, how are you finding it ?
Gotta say I finally got a chance to get mine out for some B road fun today. I have owned faster cars, but the engine note and driving feel with the top down is such a grin factor, most fun car I have ever owned.

The flat 6 is addictive! It has a wonderful howl.

How much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking? I've been thinking of selling mine for a while but unsure what I should put it up for if I do.

Yes! Enjoying it so far. Getting used to the manual again and stalled a few times haha. Definitely different to my e39 540i but in a good way. We’ve got some road trips planned this year so it’ll get out and about for sure.

It was the cheapest on autotrader by £1k based on year and mileage :)

This interesting looking gadget turned up today.

Replaces the OE damper controller. I have a track day on Saturday albeit the weather looks set for rain. Be interesting to see if it makes a difference.

As luck would have it, one my of PADM mounts has got the dreaded failure message. I scanned it and, indeed, it's failed. The sensor isn't returning any pressure value back to the ECU.

Now to find a cheap way of fixing this...

Mate has had both his go in 718 GT4, he has extended warranty which is about £700 a year and its covered both.

A small fortune to keep it there too! :D

Was my biggest regret during my 981 ownership. Not far off £5,000 to get it on a 3 year warranty from memory.
Yep, mine was about £5k to have the same. I can't see me spending £5k on repairs in 5 years nevermind 3.

I have made some good progress on my PADM issue. I have acquired two used mounts for £160 and will use the Chinese replacement sensors that don't allow water ingress - these were £225. Total cost of £385 plus my time to do the work and fit. Still significantly less than the £1055 for a single new mount alone, albeit one without the water ingress defect.

Both PADM mounts were replaced on mine just before collection from Leeds OPC. I picked up some aero parts from Newport OPC yesterday and had a chat with the lad I was dealing with regarding warranty. I said about using non OEM discs and pads as I've got PFC disc and pads to go on. He said as long as the warranty work isn't brakes related - we discussed the audio and I said I'd messed with mine so much if it failed I wouldn't try to claim warranty. Personally, as long as the engine and box are covered I'm not too bunched. I'll keep it under OPC once the warranty runs out - it's still cheaper than the warranty on my iPace by £500 a year!

Interesting on the doing the PADM yourself. I did wonder whether fitting the DSC controller could lead to early failure.

On the DSC front, I've found street driving slightly more comfortable. Felt a bit floaty at first but not sore uf that was just a placebo. At Pembrey on Saturday I think it was a little more planted. A tad less squrim when braking into the hairpin at the end of the straight. My tyres have had it and it was damp early doors so it stepped out a few times :) I've struggled with the Dunlops going off quickly (I'm all but sure it's me overdriving) which resulted in understeer. I'll reserve judgement on the DSC for the time being, it's certainly not night and day, least not on the 718. I think it's more noticeable on the 981.

My beef with the PADM mounts is that the mounts themselves are perfectly fine, but the poorly constructed internal sensor fails. No idea why they didn't design/construct this as a serviceable part as they have been failing for forever and a day.

My car's left PADM mount has failed twice in 13k. The right mount is chugging along just fine though. It's weird.

The mounts are easy to get to on the mid engined cars. It will probably take longer for me to swap the sensors once they're out than swap the mounts themselves. I've got a mountain of tools and gear; I don't fit the typical Porsche owner stereotype... :D

Had these recommended to me on the last track day from a fellow GT4 owner - they're off a GT4 RS. You have one hole to make in the lining but other than that fit to existing mounts.

Cheapest place I found them was from Porsche OPC. Not sure I'll notice the difference but passed the time :)

Also finished off the audio with a Helix sub in the rear boot space. Fits really well.

Wouldn't an Audi Q5 have the same disks/pads as that what the Macan is based on ?
Maybe, I think it's just my model & model year that came with the special coated discs, hence the eye watering costs.

Waiting on indy costs, hoping to see some substantial savings otherwise the car may accidentally roll off a cliff edge.....
