Current spec (Really outdated)

i7 8700k
16gb RAM
GTX 1080

Looking to spend around £3000, could push to £3500 if worth it? Could someone please spec me the best build for this price.

Playing mixed bunch of everything (MMORPG, FPS, Strategy, RPG etc) monitor is 144hz 1440p (Not looking to upgrade).

Checked out the MACH 6 for £2,999 - Is this even worth it?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Can you build yourself?
5080 might be a good card but it's what half the price of the system, not exactly best value for money GPU.
Not really looking to build myself. It's been too long since building my last one.

I've been looking at the 9700XT, but there's none in stock? Ideally, looking for 64GB 6000mhz RAM, Ryzen 9 9950X3D to be included.

Given the titles you play I'd look at an X3D chip.

When you say strategy, what do you mean exactly? Are we talking 4X such as Stellaris or CK2 and city builders like Skylines, or RTS such as Supcom? If the prior it could be worth bumping up to 64gb of RAM.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,921.82 (includes delivery: £11.98)

You could build this yourself, or alternatively give OCUK a ring and they'd build it for you for a fee.

Blinged it up a bit but that can be toned down if you prefer, M-ATX as it's my preference.

I'd try and get an AMD9700XT(X) over the 5070ti if you can find one close to MSRP, but they're in high demand at the moment. The ones in stock all cost more than the 5070ti and are beaten out by it, ideally you shouldn't spend more than £640-700 for a 9070XTX.

Nice build you've quoted. I currently have an air cooler (Old Dark rock) and it's a pain to remove to clean and put back on. Don't be afraid to spec a little more though, my budget is £3000 and that's what I intend to spend regardless of what games I need it for. Could you please include an AIO cooler? Also really would like my build to include a 9950x3d and 64gb RAM.

I don't know who makes all the parts in the build, but this is my best guess:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £2,593.91 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Remember that there is going to be a build fee, so that would bring you to around the £3000 mark.

I personally really do not think the 5080 is worth the large premium over the 5070ti, it's really not that much faster so I strongly recommend against it. You'd be better off putting the extra into something else like a speaker/headphone upgrade or whatever else you might need.

I'm not factoring in Windows as you can run without a licence and only lose minor functionality, and keys can be found dirt cheap. I realise you don't want to build yourself, but installing W11 is a half hour task via USB and very easy to do.

Unless you're doing productivity you do not need a 9950X3D, for gaming it'll be no better than a 9800X3D, if you really want/need the 9950X3D just swap out the 5080 for the 5070ti like so:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £2,279.78 (includes delivery: £11.98)

Thanks Gray2233, 9950X3D just went out of stock anyways, so looks like it'll be the 9800X3D :) I've swapped out the case for a Havn HS420 Premium which supports more fans and better cooling. I'm guessing I would need a ton of fans to add to this as well? I've heard the 9800X3D doesn't run hot, but the 5080 does? That's why I'm looking into a better case/cooling.

If you want fans in a fishbowl case, look at Antec's C5 ARGB, it includes 7x120mm ARGB fans. The C8 Curve (Wood) is a nice looker, but I don't think it has any fans bundled.

Both out of stock :( a real shame because both are great looking!
Should be arriving soon according to this post:

You might want to swap out the motherboard I suggested with the HS420 and Antec C5, the Asrock M-ATX will fit but it's also a smaller form factor than the max supported so might look a bit lost.

I imagine either of these would fit the bill.

Thanks for the replies. I'll go with the HS420. Can you recommend some fans please? Looks like it requires 8 for a full load?

Edit: Scrapped the idea of HS420. This case looks promising - Antec Flux PRO Full Tower Case - Black. Is this fully compatible with everything else?

Think this has everything you want, you could add a second NVME and be under your max budget.

My basket at OcUK:
  • 1 x OcUK Gaming Zirconium Ice - AMD Ryzen 7800X3D Radeon RX 7800 XT Gaming PC (SKU: SYS-OCG-00048) = £2,936.94
    • Processor: 1 x AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Sixteen Core 5.70GHz (Socket AM5) Processor - Tray
    • Cooler: 1 x Phanteks Glacier One D30 360mm White RGB All In One CPU Water Cooler
    • Memory: 1 x G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo EXPO RGB 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C30 6000MHz Dual Channel Kit
    • Graphics Card: 1 x *Build* Sapphire Pure Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC 16GB GDDR6 Graphics Card
    • Secondary M.2: 1 x WD Black SN850X 2TB SSD M.2 2280 NVME PCI-E Gen4 Solid State Drive (WDS200T2X0E)
    • Operating System: 1 x Build Stock Microsoft Windows 11 Professional - Systems

Total: £2,936.94 (includes delivery: £0.00)
Before ordering a system, ask OCUK what PSU is supplied and if it's a budget brand (Kolink) swap it to something better.
Did not notice the last spec was the OP's final. :p

They're currently not replying to any of my tickets so I don't think that's viable. So my order is sat in the basket until they reply lol

I was curious how much the zirconium build is as nv5 is a nice case(have a version1 for my son)

the 9070xt nitro is £720, so the pure shouldn't be more than £680 so you're talking £2300 odd..that's with the glaier aio with d30 fans, 4 reverse fans for the bottom and side and another standard fan for back.. the prebuild seems expensive
