Done it twice again, so 3 times in total.Yeah that does seem on the warmer side for idle. Repaste and torque the mounting screws very evenly and slowly.
Done it twice again, so 3 times in total.
Always idles at 50 - 60c
Also re-installed Windows.
What are you using to measure the temperature, and if you have more than one available temp, which one?
HWMonitor to measure temps and the one built into Corsair iCue.
Try HWINFO.HWMonitor to measure temps and the one built into Corsair iCue.
Try HWINFO.
Tried that too - Idleing at 63.7C
Yes, they are all dropping. Are the clocks dropping and unused cores sleeping at idle?
Yes, they are all dropping.
I don't know what is causing it.
What is the returns like at OCUK?
As although the processor isn't unstable the CPU temps are really high.
Can I buy another one and then replace and send mine back for refund?
Try uninstalling iCue. I have had the exact same thing happen to me with iCue and also LConnect. Also while idling at 7%Done it twice again, so 3 times in total.

More importantly what your ambient temps and settingsTried that too - Idleing at 63.7C
CPU Usage hasn't gone above 7% usage in 5 mins.
Minimum in the 5 mins was 59c the highest was 68c
Has anyone gone from 7950x to 9950x3d? I enjoy having the additional cores for work but I do feel like it would be nice to have the x3d part for gaming. Tempted to sell the 7950x and put a 9950x3d in.
Currently getting 51c idle, 62c heavy gaming load, 89c benchingQuick question..
What are the idleing temps for people?
My 9950X3D is idling at 50-60c and 70-75 under load.
Replaced the thermal paste twice and always stays around the same.
The chip isn't showing any signs of being faulty but never had a CPU idle at such high temps - My 9950X idled at 30-35c
Have you removed the stock CPU holder and replaced it with a shield ? I ran into a similar issue when I upgraded to a 9800X3D ; once I removed the shield idle temps settled to around 40 degrees C.So my chip is running very hot..
My 9950X ran at the temps you are getting - I have ordered some thermal qgrizlly.
My cooler is the CORSAIR iCUE H170i ELITE LCD XT.
I am not sure if the chip is faulty as shouldn't be running at those temps.
wow that is quite a result, thank youI did. Haven't really done much gaming yet but I know the difference won't be huge when gaming at 4k 144Hz. The one surprise so far is encoding in HEVC, the 9950x3d completed the same encode in about 30% less time, which I did not expect.
