Assassins Creed Shadows - AC finally (at last) heads to Japan

Upgrading my score to 9/10 :) This is a different game to Tsushima and Rise of Ronin. Those were mostly combat, this is mostly stealth and ninjas. Although combat is satisfying as well, with good choice of weapons - katana, tanto, kusarigama. I've not even touched Yasuke apart from the intro, just played a few hours with Naoe. The game looks gorgeous on my 5090, night + rain = chef's kiss :)
My take on recent Samurai games:
1. Sekiro - the best combat, atmoshpere and setting - 10/10
2. Tied among Tsushima, AC:S - 9/10
3. Rise of Ronin, Like a Dragon:Ishin - 8/10

LAD:Ishin has the best story, characters and acting by very-very far; Tsushima has accessible combat that is quite nice but not much depth, AC:Shadows is a gorgeous accessible ninja simulator (parkour never felt more at home, shares all of GoT flaws -acting, story, shallow'ish), Rise of Ronin has the most complex combat and the highest difficulty but very little else.

PS Ninja Gaiden 2: Black 2025 is up there with Sekiro, beating it in combat depth and replayability wise, but falling short in atmosphere and setting
Great right up, I've only played it for about 4 hours but I'm really enjoying what I played.

Ive grown to really dislike long and many cutscene games, im here for gameplay and gameplay alone.
its not like its well written and interesting...

it feels like they want a theme park experience with so much forced cutscenes, rather than an actual game, all they do is detract from the game itself.

is it so you don't realise the game loop is basically running from one place to another? it's almost like a curated theme park, quickly from one diorama to the next diorama.

If you watch an NPC I get the feeling they will just do the same thing forever without variation unlike in skyrim.
the NPCs seem to have one or 2 animations at most, It's like being trapped in a dementia/senile apocalypse.

Theres one bit where you free some prisoners and they just run and stand outside doing nothing....

I'm scared to watch and find out because it will destroy the illusion of a "living world" and not just a static diorama

The kids are saying what I'm sure most gamers are thinking, is this a diorama simulator ? remember when games had living, breathing worlds?

if this was made 10-15 years ago there would probably be NPC factions that fight each other and try to take over different parts of the map etc.
I'm guessing not here unless its through advancing a quest.
yet they spend so much time on pets and other crap for the hideout?

Really enjoying it so far just playing the ninja girl.
The enemies are a bit tanky though so you have to be really careful to try to stealth kill as many as you can in a base before you tackle any of the 'brutes' that might be wandering around in the base.

People really pay full price for Ubisost games?

I'll pay full price for certain games... Impressions on this so far is I'll easily get 60 hours entertainment out of it... Probably closer to 120hrs... So even at full price that's 50p an hour to keep me entertained.

Beats going for a £6 pint of beer that will last me maybe 30mins..... That works out at a staggering £12 per hour to keep me occupied!

Most pc gamers don’t even blink at spending thousands on hardware, but then lose their minds at the thought of spending a few quid on games to use on the hardware?
I know what I'm getting with hardware, it doesn't promise one thing and then deliver something else entirely.
Plus can be objectively measured innit.

Bonus plus, I actually own the hardware, unlike a pc game.

Well, you know exactly what you are getting with this game..it's assasins creed:D

so it has a theme.. this time Japan, with slightly better graphics and game play, as it should have being the newest one. :D
