NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Done some quick preliminary undervolt testing on the FE card to get it to run less power hungry, cooler & similar(ish) performance to stock.

Unigine Valley at 4k (used for speed)
  • Stock - FPS: 176 | Watts: 553 | Temp: 73c
  • 0.865v - FPS: 164 | Watts: 383 | Temp: 65c
  • 0.870v - FPS: 169 | Watts: 407 | Temp: 66c
  • 0.885v - FPS: 173 | Watts: 440 | Temp: 68c

Not had time to dial it in any further to check for stability, but over stock the undervolts yield;
  • 1.70-6.72% less FPS
  • 20.43-30.74% less Watts
  • 6.85-10.96% less Temp
So for approx 5% less FPS I can save about 25% in power draw for lower temps. I'd call that a win. :D

I used 0.89v and +1000 from this guide and find I get better results then I did when stock

The 5080 stock situation is getting there, April is when the scalpers will start crying to the Easter bunny.
They're already there from a lack of ROI perspective, for the most part. Quite a few cards going for £1150 now that must have cost the low-life scalper £1000 at least. Include shipping, effort/time to source and ship, and very high risk of return by buyer on these and that's a paltry return.

Scalpers still have the 5090s are still up there in price e.g. >£2700 for a Palit GR, but even these are starting to come down.

That said, even if they were going for retail prices, no way in holy heckfire would I buy a card now from auction sites on principle and risk (of scam, lack of warranty etc.)

Yeah I followed that mostly too. Just finding the sweet spot (personal preference) is always fun.

Memory temps:

Stock:
88c
U/V 1: 82c
U/V 2: 82c
U/V 3: 88c

Only did one run of each so there might be slight variation, but there does seem to be a slight correlation in Mem Temp with less voltage overall.

Thanks! Very helpful. I'm more concerned about memory temps that GPU temps when it comes to the 5090 FE. This is somewhat reassuring.

At what point do you call it a day and buy another AIB card? I'm sure with your decent budget you could get a card within the next two weeks if you really wanted to.
The only other Id take oher than Suprim is AM, Astral is noisy and I'm not dealing with that 4th fan for 3 grand. Pre order suprim was 2750 and If we'd buy now we'd get a Zotac or a Tuf for that lol. I'll wait and wait personally

Astral isn't noisy with the newest q mode bios update for the card.

Is it right that the Suprim Air is better than the Astral?

The reviews came out with Suprim AIR being cooler and quieter, but power wise maybe a 1% or 2% under perf. Not seen OCing performances. For me that 1-2% I much, much prefer quieter and cooler and it also helps I love the design

I may have just been at the right place at the right time. I logged onto my PC this morning and checked the notification site, and it had what I thought was a stale notification from earlier/yesterday that I was going to dismiss. I read the notification and saw that it was for a MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G SHADOW 3X OC at MSRP of £979. I hadn't heard of that model, so I clicked the link and it said in stock. I purchased it, had confirmation and now it says dispatched, arriving tomorrow! I'll just have to check the ROPs when it arrives.

Hi all. Long time Overclockers Customer/first time poster on the forums. Sadly I missed out on launch day. Any more Asus or MSI drops on the horizon for the 5090 series?
