At what point do you say GPU's are too expensive and refuse to buy?

OK I couldnt resist, no real reason to get one, but I have pre-ordered an MSI Shadow 3X OC 5070 ti for MSRP. Its not due until 7th May, so plenty of time to cancel if a better deal happens :p
Looking back I paid just over £753 posted for my 3080 in 2020, so £729 doesn't seem so bad in context   (in Man Maths anyways :D)
One of OCUKs competitors had stock for a few hours today. Same price with delivery tomorrow. That said I bought a palit gaming version from here which arrived today and I don't feel ripped off paying the extra £70 it seems like a well built card.

Probably recoup £350 for the 3080 so not bad at all

I really truly believe the 9070XT at £650+ is priced too high for its performance. As time goes on flagship performance should be offered for 50% cost in the next gen as a 700xt or 70xt as they’re known as now.

Eg 6900xt was $999 and then came the 7800XT (aka 70class) for $499 offering 98% of the prev gen flagship performance.

AMD are profiting by charging $100 more this time round for the fake msrp ($599 in reality $700-800) 9070XT.

People can make excuses for these companies stating increasing manufacturing costs etc but as a gamer I don’t really care for all that. All I want is for prev gen price to performance to be maintained otherwise I see people keeping hold of their cards longer between upgrades.

Just my two pence.

This is the problem, your idea of too much is similar to mine but people are still buying £800 5070Tis and £700 9070 XT and let’s not forget £650 9070s and 5070s.

I could just about justify a 9070 XT Pulse for £629. Other might see that at too much over MSRP. Others might see it as a bargain.

I missed Day 2/3 restocking at OCUK at £629- that price is OK and I would have felt less scalped than at £650+.

I don’t think price realignment to past history is going to happen.

I'd have felt much happier paying £650 for my Asus 9070xt. At £713 I feel a bit shafted. But hey ho, I could have held out.

How long do you wait to save £50 or £60? When you could just be enjoying the card. Life is short enough.

If you have a decent enough card (anything above a RX6800 or 4070/3080) then you can afford to wait for price drops but if you needed a card for productivity and enjoyment now then there is little choice but to pay the scalped premium.

My 3070 was getting a little long in the tooth for 1440p ultrawide gaming. Although still doing a job.

But I had a 2k tax rebate windfall burning a hole in my pocket :p
