*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

Is there any deterrante you can use for cats ?. My neighbor and some areas around my street there are cats .and they have a habit of jumping on the car bonnet . Iv noticed a couple of marks appearing on my car ..

Anyone know on what I can do do protect some of the front wings ? And possibly scare away cats ?

Offensive language such as “if you’re a cat and you read this **** you” might work

Or automated targeting shotguns on your bonnet James Bond style?

I was looking at this.. the 3m stuff or there is another premium product, is it going to damage paintwork or cause the paint discolour behind these clear films? Iv been put off as people say 3m yellows after a period of time

I only want to do it on some sections. Namely where you could get the odd stone chip, or cats trying to climb on your bonnet

more sensitive alarm/camera that would retaliate to teach cat a lesson (musk you have any options?)
e: is it lavender they don't like - an approriate flavoured windscreen wash

AG snow cannon was £30 before xmas when I purchased, wasn't going to pay £20 delta for mjjc - aliexpress options posted a few pages back looked a good bet with spare bottle too,
despite only have a larger nozzle for high flow washer still has an adjutment knob - haven't really figured out how that interacts with adjusting pw pressure,
since applying foam takes less than a minute.

The wife used a couple of these ultra-sonic sensors to stop the local cats laying in some of her plants in the front garden. Seemed to work ok. The batteries have since died, but they've been Pavlov'd to still not go near it. Maybe worth it if you can get it within range of your car?

Hello all

Took my car on a track day, and there is some rubber marking around the front bumper etc. Does anyone have any recommendations on a rubber remover product?
Thanks

Can anyone reccomend an okish clay kit ?

a few years back i used dodo juice and the clay they supplied,

i think i still have the clay at home but no juice, i think the clay maybe ok, although it may contain some contaminents, if i stick it in some boiling water id have to see, i dont want it damaging paint though

i may buy a fresh bar

i have seen some on ebay which range from £3 for a bar onwards, blue stuff, any good? then i guess i would have to buy some juice? or is it better paying £15-£18 for a claybar / juice kit ?

I may get a £3-4 bit of clay

iv ordered 1 litre bottle of snow foam, so i may stick some in a squirty bottle, with a tad of water so its diluted and use that to spray on the car whilst its being clayed

Anyone tried generic blue clays on ebay ?

Which contaminants are you trying to remove?

Fallout and tar can both be removed without a clay bar, and hence should be.

Its just to remove road grime

the goal is pre wash, snow foam pre wash, then wash off, then two bucket clean , then rinse, then polish with mergiuers ultimate compound, , then wax with collinite 476 as it gives really good results

I did this with an old BMW before, as said i used a dodo born slippy wax and juice - but really the juice is just soapy water

so i was just going to buy generic blue clay bar off ebay for a couple of quid

if you go on ebay, search clay bar you will see what i mean

I like Bilt Hamber's Auto Clay - works great even with just water as a lube rather than needing quick detailer or the like.

Stop being tight.

(And I say that as someone who loves to save money where possible, but you've bought a nice car and are then planning on using the cheapest nastiest clay going, just to save £8 or whatever?!?!)

Clay shouldn't be for removing normal road grime. Use a traffic film remover for that.

Clay is a fairly harsh option that should only really be used for pollutants that can't be removed by other means e.g. tree sap, tar, ingrained bird droppings, metal particles etc but only once you've exhausted other options. Normal tar remover, and fallout remover are generally enough.

huh ? clay is perfectly fine

iv used it before

What is traffic film remover? imo this just looks like another car shampoo or snow foam liquid in a bottle which is what im already buying ? thats not going to get rid of road grit before a polish and wax

My paint work isnt actually too bad given its only a 3-4 week old used approved car from BMW so probably had a valet there

althrough i wanted to give it a quick clay before i do the polish and wax

Given the dodo juice clay kit i purchased a few years back was about £14 i think for a bit of clay and a bottle of juice

What clay bar do you recommend then ? (P.S i dont want to pay £20 for abit of clay). I have spent £44 so far on polish, collinite 476 wax and some snow foam
