Alienware announces the AW2725DF and AW3225QF (worlds first 4k 240hz and worlds first 1440p 360hz QD-OLED monitors - launches January 2024)

Sadly after almost 2 years of using AW3423DWF, my monitor decided to leave me and it's currently dead.

Luckily after calling to Dell, they offered me a quick replacement.

I am wondering what could cause it :S

Here is my QF burn in progress, delivery was July 11th 2024, I use it basically 7 days a week, 5 days a week are working from home, the evenings and weekends I am gaming, editing and generally browsing and doing other working. This is very heavy usage and my Gen 1 QD AW3423DW was replaced a handful of times for burn-in as some know.

The QF after 8 months of the same usage?

No obvious signs of burn

Thanks to a comment on reddit, this is now fixed!

If you are in 8-bit mode then the automatically manage colours for apps setting is off by default, it only turns on when switching to 10-bit, so you just have to turn that off. Seems this toggle got activated recently somehow, maybe from the recent Windows feature update as Ive had 24H2 since launch and never saw an issue until this recent Patch Tuesday:

So just to confirm this toggle should be OFF in 10 bit mode?

Do you do anything particularly fancy to mitigate burn in? Hiding task bar, desktop icons or do you just rock it normally with the usual monitor OLED care features and see how it goes?

Taskbar was never an issue before but yes I have auto hide enabled anyway as that's part of my StartAllBack customisation and gives extra screen space for apps to use when they are vertically maximised, when nothing is needing the space then the taskbar is visible and "floating" at the bottom.

Other than that I just follow the pixel refresh schedule as needed. My desktop wallpaper is on 10 minute rotation too on a gallery of loadsof my own photos and game screenshots .

In regards to VRR rlicker. If GSYNC is disabled and frames are uncapped is screen tearing a problem on these oleds?
No, as long as your GPU is powerful enough. Even if there is tiny tearing, it's not noticeable as things are so smooth anyway vidually.

I've seen no issues with Gsync off, only benefits months later with no flicker in anything.

Enable a global fpsbcap of 223-235fps, and cap individual games of desired. That's all that should be done

There is screen tearing which is noticeable even if your fps is high, it does depend a lot on the game though.

Gsync is still a far smoother experience than no gsync even when fps is above 120. I would only disable gsync for games where you can't get above 80 fps or/and a game has really bad frame pacing with dark scenes e.g. like silent hill 2.

I've not noticed it in any game in the several months that I've been gaming with sync off and I'm usually the first to spot subtle details that don't look or feel right.

At least that's my experience on a 4090 and 12700 system anyway, it's configured for the smoothest and lowest latency performance and visual quality otherwise

The finger is seriously hovering over the buy button. CS2 is all im playing lately and 360hz is appealing. I also fancy another RDR2 play through and i read somewhere it looks incredible with HDR on.

Looking at the Alienware 32 4K QD-OLED . Has anyone mounted one on a single monitor arm , any issues? Just can't makeupmy mind , this or the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM. Decision Decision?

I did, I have the Dell arm, no issues at all. Really sturdy, a lot of adjustment too.
