Alienware announces the AW2725DF and AW3225QF (worlds first 4k 240hz and worlds first 1440p 360hz QD-OLED monitors - launches January 2024)

No.

No offence to mrk but rtings are pretty reputable including pcmonitors.info and like my own videos show the flickering of the aw32 where as none on the aw34dw, yes there might still be some on the aw34dw under certain scenarios but it is certainly not anywhere near as bad as every other oled as evidenced in rtings findings (if you're coming from an ips, you may notice it more or may not). The aw32 and other non gsync ultimate monitor will most likely flicker in "every" scenario when you get close to the starting VRR bracket where low frame compensation kicks in i.e. usually around 55-60 fps (gsync operates all the way down to 30 [which is also why anything between 30 and 60 is far smoother and more playable than any adaptive/free/g sync compatible display).

I wouldn't get an aw34dw now anyway regardless, it's first gen qd-oled and if you have waited this long, you can wait a bit longer until the new gsync displays come out using the mediatech scaler.
My Gsync operates down to at least 20fps. I can see my monitor refresh rate in OSD matching to FPS and ive seen it hit 17Hz.

The problem is, there's always new tech around the corner. If VRR and screen burn were no issue for OLED and text clarity was the same as IPS/VA/TN then id be 100% on board.

I use my screen for 80% productivity with 20% gaming (maybe an hour a day on average for gaming) I say 'productivity' - forums, discord, youtube mainly. Hardly being productive :D

I get there's a fear around burn in - but with the 3rd gen panels, the amount of screen protection features built into each different version and the 3 year warranties that are coming as standard I don't think you've got anything to worry about.

The only change I made to my regular IPS monitor was auto hiding the task bar - otherwise I already had my display go to sleep after a few minutes and I've never had desktop icons visible. I don't baby my monitor, I don't avoid games with static elements, I just use it like I would any other monitor. I have nearly 800 hours in The Finals, I'd basically be expecting the UI to be burned in at this point with how much I play that game...

Yeh, it annoys me for some reason when my display goes to sleep. It (my Acer X34 IPS) spends most days always on on the desktop - I'll use it for quick searching / videos / discord when im at work on a laptop next to me.
I have ~20 icons on the desktop and taskbar. Maybe ill just look for another IPS for now, or maybe 200Hz VA panel like an Acer X35

Or just use an OLED monitor like you would a regular IPS monitor and if you get burn in inside 3 years, replace it under warranty?

Same here :D I never had an issue with the aw34dw for text (especially after applying the rgb workaround fix), no doubt, 4k/higher res than 1440 is superior here though..... Burn in was never an issue for me either but then again, still not an issue on my lg e7 (aside from temporay retention, which goes after playing something else)

TBF, you won't want to be dropping below 60 fps anyway, however, as is the norm with games today, this can happen often, also, with some games, they will limit cutscenes to 60 fps e.g. indiana jones so the vrr flicker in those cutscenes is awful and there is nothing you can do about it other than turn off gsync..... This would not be an issue with the aw34dw.

My gen 3 QF has not been swapped for a new one yet from burn in and it's been several months, the gen 1 on the DW was on the 2nd one by now :p Maybe 3rd? :p :D

I am semi productive at least - discord and youtube used for learning (for my job) but tend to veer towards other discord groups and get distracted.
I think only Bodycam has dropped below 60fps in places but think this might have been when I had a 3090 Ti instead of my now 4090.

@mrk what's 'gen 3 QF'?

QF is the 32" 4K 240Hz model, these are all gen 3 QD-OLED, all DW and DWF are gen 1.
