They threw away any chance at the WCC last year wasting time with Perez. This is a harsh, but essential move.
The hilarity would be, if Lawson could outscore Red Bull in Japan. If it wasn't for their strategy blunder, China would have been a great race for the sister team.

I soured a little on Lawson with some of the previous comments he'd made, about it being his time, but he did address it. You have to be confident and focused only on yourself in cut-throat F1. This switch will be the right move for his career. Several more bad results for Red Bull and his career would be over before it properly began.

I guess Lawson can come across a bit arrogant on occasions, but I also feel some of stuff he has said is used out of context which is one of the problems with the media nowadays. I've followed Lawson since his karting days and he comes from a very humble background, he's a fighter. I also like that he gets his elbows out and competes for every position if the car allows it. Lawson should have been in F1 in 2024 (at the latest) and he knows this is his final chance to make the grade. He shouldn't have given Perez the bird in Mexico and Jared (his dad) pulled him up about it (he wasn't pleased), personally I put that down to youthful enthusiasm and frustration rather than poor sportsmanship.

I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see them put Max in the racing bull car just to see the difference/see if he can still compete at the top of the grid in it.

It does seem absurd to even think that the 2nd team has a faster car, but with Perez and now Lawson failing dramatically, you have got to at least wonder whether the Red Bull is in fact the slower car.

The RB isn't a faster car - it's just much more stable/easier to drive.

The Red Bull is faster but it's so close to the limit of stability, that you can't push it otherwise it will spit you out sideways into a barrier, hence Lawson appearing so slow - he didn't have the confidence to push harder.

Watch the onboard of Max's qualifying lap - even he is sawing at the wheel to control the car - he likes a pointy/loose car, but even he's finding it a handful.

The legendary Ferrari that would somehow both oversteer and understeer at the same time.
It was often said it did that but I think it understeered on corner entry and oversteered on the exit.

Yes, that one.

If we are playing "what ifs," how about Max in the '18 Ferrari that some thought Seb should have beaten Lewis?

Yeah, I personally think the Max of today in that '18 Ferrari would have won the 2018 title.

I know Mercedes closed the gap in the second half of the season but the Ferrari was just the better car for a good 60-70% of that year. There was also a fair amount of rain that season too, Lewis won a chunk of races just purely down to him being super good in the wet in that Mercedes whereas, as good as Seb was, when the cars changed in 2014 his confidence and ability in the wet never really came back again.

I'd have thought Tsunoda would have taken a low key approach to Japan, he seems to feel the RB21 isn't tricky to drive (after two days in the sim) and thinks a podium is possible.

"My ambition hasn’t changed. I don’t want to raise expectations too much, but for this Japanese Grand Prix I want to finish on the podium," he said, this time very seriously. "That said, I know it won’t be easy right from the start. My priority is to first understand the car and how it behaves compared to the VCARB.

Personally I would keep my head down, my mouth shut and let the results do the talking for me!

Tsunoda certainly doesn't lack self-confidence, Lawson will be back in New Zealand driving buses if all this turns out to be true.

I want to finish on the podium doesn't actually mean Yuki thinks he can achieve it. To any driver a podium, or winning, in your home race means heaps so it can be understood why he's saying that. But let's not confuse ambition with reality quite yet until after the race.
A sim is a sim...

Perhaps Tsunoda's driving style is better suited to the RB21, to be honest I have no idea at all, I don't really follow him that closely.

It'll be interesting to see how quickly Lawson recovers from this seatback, personally I don't think it'll take too long at all.

Nah I heard that David Coulthard is going to make a one-off appearance at Silverstone before Kvyat does a stint and then they put Seb in the car for a few races, and then they'll go "**** it" lets just bring back Ricciardo for the last few races

Williams have signed Martins to their junior programme, presumably to fill the gap left by Colapinto signing to Alpine. I have to admit I'm nonplussed: Martins strikes me as the very definition of good but not good enough to make it. He's been racing in single seater junior series since 2016, coming second to Piastri in Renault Eurocup in 2019, he's slowly trudged forward while his more talented contemporary is now in his third season of F1 despite missing out of a full season due to Alpine's utter incompetence. So, yeah, Martin has got some good results but he's getting them against substantially less experienced drivers.
