Russell Brand.

It would not have gone to court if the evidence wasn't compelling enough with a high profile celeb like that.

A picture is painted by the very fact that there is enough evidence to go to court.
Do you understand due process? Your initial statement suggests not.

Have you read the article? He's not been to court yet, Brand has been told to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 2 May, but he is believed to be in the United States.

I think you've misunderstood mrk.
The CPS has decided there's enough evidence to charge him and to go to court on 2 May and "A picture is painted by the very fact that there is enough evidence to go to court".

Didn't he relocate to the US a month or two ago? If so, that seems like a coincidence of timing. It will be interesting to see if he returns to the UK or if Rogan and Peterson put him back on their platforms so he can tell the world that it's all a big misunderstanding and "they" are trying to cancel him.

We all get that.

But, 'Finally Justice' as a first statement after being charged makes no sense.

It won't be finalised until the court case is completed.

I assume if he misses the initial court date, he's going to get arrested if/when he returns to the UK.

I think justice is beginning, being charged with rape is not going to be pleasant. Innocent until proven guilty as per the law, but I think we all know that on the balance of probabilities, he’s guilty, even if he’s not found so in court. It takes a hell of a lot to charge someone for rape.

"The left is going after him because he's supporting Trump!!!"

I'm guessing the left has now created evidence that the CPS thinks will get them a conviction as well.

It's ironic, because everything he did before he went nuts suggested he was very liberal - basically a hippy. It's almost as if he thinks that being on the right and in America might protect you from being a ****. Weird, that.

Shoutout to all the posters itt who declared brand innocent and defended him because he couldn’t be a rapist as he hadn’t been charged by police and found guilty and if the evidence did exist he would already been in jail.

Their opinions then and now were fantastic and very valuable as they clearly understood the situation and how guilt and prosecuting crime works.

It's the BBC's fault or George Soros or something.

Now now, I hold only negative feelings towards him and his elitist ***** ways but he's not guilty... yet.

Being charged means there is more than enough evidence to go downthough.

On historic sex crimes, with no physical evidence I'm guessing. I imagine the best evidence was the Los Angeles alleged rape where there was an actual witness who heard the events.

The CPS is probably going on creating an MO from having multiple witnesses. It could be a test case. I do think it is quite dangerous ground. Benjamin Mendy was found not guilty but perhaps only because footage of consensual sex was put forward and the conspiring of the alleged victims talking about a pay out IIRC.

Now I'm not saying Brand is innocent, it's just a very difficult area of law due to the lack of evidence. Andrew Tate not being charged when there was probably far more evidence against him, is an odd one.
