You can go through initial setup without having an Apple ID at all but to use iMessage, FaceTime and App Store you will need an Apple ID.

You can just sign up for an Apple ID using your Gmail address and you can add several email addresses to the mail app if you want. Up to you how you want to do it.

Okay so it’s been a couple of days with the iPhone. Overall, I’ve been enjoying it but getting used to 60Hz has been and continues to be a challenge. But I’ll give it time.

I turned haptic feedback on but I can’t find any way to turn up the haptic intensity like you can on androids so I’m guessing that’s just how it is. This change over is certainly going to take some getting used to

Anyone else considering updating now to avoid the tariffs? I'm trying to weigh up what might happen but could see iPhones going up 10-15% when the 17 comes out and I'd probably get a lower trade-in on my 14 pro max too, so considering nipping to Apple getting the 16 pro max and sticking with that for quite a few years.

I've thought about it but I'm just going to wait. If I can't get the 17PM then no worries. The 13PM can keep chugging along for another year or two.

Why would they go up? Assuming you don’t live in the US?

Not as simple as that. They’ll either have to charge a fortune for them which likely will lead to fewer sales as the price is reported to be almost doubling or they reduce it take a hit off the bottom line of sales in and make it up via an increase of prices globally in order to try and keep high sales in the states.

Or they focus a greater shift towards India which has other implication.

Didn’t Apple get some sort of exemption from the tariffs the last time Donald tried this?

>$300bn has been wiped off since they announced the tariffs.

Report the following -

However, semiconductors are exempt from the new tariffs, which could shield Apple, which is a customer of chipmaking giant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, from a 32 per cent “reciprocal” duty on the island nation. TSMC’s new plant in Arizona is believed to account for a large portion of the hundreds of billions of dollars that Apple and Nvidia have pledged to spend on US production over the coming years. However, expanding that plant will probably become more expensive too, given the 20 per cent new tariff on imports from the EU, including from the critical Netherlands-based chip equipment manufacturer ASML.

The RoW will not stand for the latter. I certainly wouldn't and would boycott on principle.

The American people need to know this is a Trump problem and in any case, Apple putting their prices up in RoW to subsidise their American customers will just tank sales in the RoW. People are not going to tolerate £100-£200 getting added to an iPhone when other manufactures who don't have a huge US market share don't (e.g. Samsung).

Went back to my iPhone 15 Pro Max from the 16 Pro Max.

Touch screen issues and various app crashes were just too much.

All of the issues I have had since upgrading have gone. For me the size is more convenient also.

Be interesting to see if they fully iron these out.

I have none of these issues; sounds like you got a dud unit

We have a handful of 16 pro/max at work, disabling the camera button and apple intelligence helps a lot, and it's definitely got better with iOS updates but the issues are there on each.

It's possible we have a load of early models I guess.

I may send mine off for replacement and see if the replacement is any better.

I do have my camera button disabled; it's the most useless button Apple has ever created, I've had it disabled since day one. But Apple intelligence is not disabled, it's enabled all the time

What’s wrong with the camera button? I use it frequently.

Well there you go, something the proverbial blind man could see a mile off, exemptions on Smartphones, computers and other assorted chips and semi-conductors.
All mouth and no trousers from el Presidente.

anyone got any idea why on my iPhone 16 pro when typing on the keyboard occasionally puts the typing “click clicking” volume really loud, then just goes back to normal please?

Also my Face ID randomly stopped working earlier, needed to reboot the phone for it to start working, is this normal?

On the latest ios
