What "man jobs" have you done today?

Built some steps exactly how the customer asked me to. He asked me to use the stones he has sieved from his soil in the allotment to get rid of them lol :D

New vinyl went down yesterday, after I'd mist-coated the new ceiling.

Marked out where we're painting the Xbox green, then went over the existing grey with PBW, which has highlighted a few dark patches.

I know we ought to have painted *before* the flooring went in, but fitter was only available yesterday, or wait until late next month. I've repurposed a set of old, heavy curtains as dust sheets.

Bathroom ceiling was also skimmed yesterday, so hopefully dry by Sat, ready to mistcoat then paint.

Old curtains are the best dust sheets. I use them for plastering and get them off the local free page on Facebook. They don't float around and stay put.

Went to fit a water butt, cut a slice out of the down pipe to fit the diverter and while fitting it I pulled the down pipe out of the gutter.

The fence separated from the wall on mother's day.

Turns out a flimsy bit of wood nailed to the pointing just rips our when it gets windy / over time.

Fitted a fence post to my wall (properly) and secured the fence.
Which is good, however I noticed two posts in from that is quite wobbly sigh.

Clearly need a new 14 metres worth of fence. Heh

I am surprised you didn't go for a grey wall with the green x on at least one side.
Looks like a nice job anyway
We considered that, but decided not to paint the green anywhere close to the floor, as my son's cat would ruin it pretty quickly (he's an Exotic - short haired Persian who sneezes a lot!).

(Sat in his favourite spot, making sure the PC's filters are working...)

We bought both colours in Valspar Trade Tough so the walls can be scrubbed clean, but the dark grey won't look so grotty if he misses the odd spot...

Log store construction began today, in glorious sunshine.

Figured half a breeze block on compacted soil was probably a good enough footing, time will tell if it starts to sink :p I decided to keep load on the front/rear and rebated top & bottom, 100mm fence posts with an obscene amount of cross cuts on the evo saw. 150mm fixings in from each end too.

This is around 90cm deep and just over 2m wide, which should hold around 2.5-3 cubic meters, though I plan to add a shelf for kindling and smaller logs.

It can be seen from both the hallway and lounge side windows, being able to see my handy work so regularly is a bonus.

Looking forward to finishing it this weekend with a tile roof and throwing logs in to it to gawp at.
