Fantastic Four (2025)

I'm wondering if this is going to be in a parallel universe because it hardly seems like the retro story setting which I quite like the look of fits with the existing MCU canon?
Yeah it looks like it's going to at least start in a parallel universe. Look at the blackboard he's writing on in one scene, there is a note that says alternate universe?

Thanks, I didn't notice that. Tonally it would make more sense for the comic accurate version of the Fantastic Four presented in the trailer to be a parallel universe and transition across to the MCU otherwise there are some unanswerable questions about why they haven't been mentioned in the last 20 years.

Grimm is a hard character to represent accurately. He sometimes drawn to be the size of the Hulk and in others almost human size. It depends on the artist. I did hope they would have given him a bit more stature to portray a more imposing physical presence on screen.

Still think initially Pedro doesn't seem to fit but will see. Sue Storm looks good. She actually looks the part to fit Invisible Woman rather than Invisible Girl.

Think this looks great. Love the retro future 60s vibe of the world and most of the cast are decent.

Tonally very different to anything else in the MCU thus far.

@steve5424

Cast looks decent? PP as Mr Fantastic? He isn't the best actor............

I do like the look of The Thing, very reminiscent of the comic books/cartoon i saw as a kid. But he doesn't look very tall in the trailer.

And steve.............have you posted your thoughts on Section 31 yet...........?

I did say most of the cast, not all of them.

Yes I think I did anyway. Meh. Not ghastly, but I'll not ever watch it again.

Good news, both Kirby and the guy playing the human torch are saying this is getting the “modern audience” treatment.

Really looking forward to it now!
In bin!!

we’ve been getting nothing but downgrades lately. Give it a year or two to get over this whole farce and actors will be saying the “olden audience” treatment

The vibe I'm getting from chatter online is mostly positive with many looking forward to it.
Wouldnt be the first film with positive talk and many looking forward to it, which then released and flopped though would it. We'll find out when it releases whether it flops or not, if you wanted me to put money on a bet, I'd bet on it flopping :)

Fantastic 4 has never really been a money making franchise or IP outside of the very hardcore fan base, most of which have evaporated. Even their animation series has been super lacklustre over the years.

4 films; first straight to VHS bin, second 05' and third 07' did ok but only c$300m ish each in an era where Spiderman 2/3 were c$800m. This was also the era Batman Dark Knight Trilogy had successfully rebooted the superhero genre to an almost believable closer to real life outlook as the more cartoon perspective was out of favour again.

2015 Fan4Stic only did $160m against the multi $bn Infinity War era. Ignoring how average Fan4Stic was, it shows how tanked that IP is when any and every superhero film was making bank at that point.

Jks cameo as Reed Richards in Dr Strange MoM was decent enough but that was a couple of mins as part of a bigger set piece.

So a reboot with new cast again none of which are massive box office leading draws, using an average bland verging on nonchalantly viewed IP at a time superhero movies have tanked in popularity.

Even with the latest trailer, this really doesnt look mind blowingly amazing and F4 still has a fairly niche fanbase so nothing to shift me from my early perspective on this. Looks the antithesis of Deadpool too, especially Johnny Storm so could go either side of $500m tbh.

Whilst Pedro Pascal is still a huge streaming draw, he hasn't exactly been a big $$ blockbuster lead draw.

Is Galactus meant to be able to change sizes? I always thought that character was meant to be a planet eater, but in this the characters shrunk down considerably.
