An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

The game is has some blatantly obvious bugs that should have been fixed

Like why does my sword cast a massive 100 foot shadow across any body of water? It's the screen space reflections causing it but I've never seen this in a game before, how can it get past testing..

Water reflections are cancelled out by a big block around trees between you and the water too.

Is this like a more up to date version of Skyrim?
It's specifically a more up to date version of Oblivion. Otherwise this...

Is everyone on this forum retired or jobless?
E. Or on leave, forgot it was easter-ish
I just manage my time well, plus the sparetime advantage of kids having long since grown up and moved out

I find that life + gaming is like a parabolic curve , when we are young we have no kids, no responsibilities etc and can spend loads of time gaming, then we settle down, get family commitments, have to bring up kids etc and the amount of time we can game drops, then the commitments cease, the kids grown into adults and go off on their own with their own families and you once again, as when you were young, have bucketloads of spare time to game, at this point in time I actually not only have the same amount of time to game as when I was young but now I also have more money to game than I did when I was young...I would actually say the best time to be a gamer is the post-family time ! :D

Good to see this on gamepass as I'm glad I didn't buy it. It looks really nice but OMG does it feel dated now.

I played it back when it first released and thought it was great then, think it's one of those games that if you've played the original leave it like that, some shinny graphics does not make it better but will tarnish the memories you had of it.

No.

Skyrim was the sequel to Oblivion. And like most sequels it (mostly) improved upon the gameplay of its predecessor.

Oblivion Remastered is Oblivion with updated visuals, a new UI and some minor tweaks to its gameplay. But it's still Oblivion - still a 20 year old game - at its core. So while it (mostly) looks better than Skyrim (particularly in screenshots), it is certainly not more up-to-date. If anything, it's the opposite.

Anyone else getting stutters? Maybe should update my gpu drivers.
It's UE5. Even with a fairly mighty shader compilation step (around 4m20s on a 7950X3D) it's unlikely to be completely stutter-free, especially as UE5 is really not well suited to open world gameplay.
