Minisforum N5 Pro NAS

I've started thinking about power draw, my current HTPC has been on 24/7 for 7-8 years and a PSU calculator claims around 300W (I'm sure it's not pulling that day to day - going to bust out my power draw plug).

But keen to know what the power draw will be like on the N5 Pro and I'd ideally like whatever my NAS solution will be to on the lower end. A few new posts on Twitter about the N5 Pro so seems something is happening/about to.

Edit - I don't think Minisforum know when the N5 Pro is coming out.

My old server (Ryzen 3600 + HBA + 11 HDDs/SSDs + 2x NvME + gtx1660) was idling around 80-85w, I moved to a Terramaster NAS (6 bay + 2 NVME) with intel i5 1235u and that idles around 24-27w with 30+ docker containers and Home Assistant VM.

My guesstimate is the N5 pro based on CPU TDP would be close to that of my i5 1235u when idling with all bays full but HDDs spun down.

This nas or the AOOSTAR WTR MAX?

I don't really need AI to pick out pictures for me.

Oooo hello, not heard of the Aoostar - not a bad device.

I do wonder if Minisforum are pushing back release because they can't settle on a final price.

No idea.

But after reading pages and pages on reddit about both companies.

I will buy from amazon. That way I know I will get good support.

Unless it's sold directly by Amazon, beyond the 30 days or whatever it is they usually just fob you off and tell you to speak to the manufacturer now.

The last problem I had was with Nexigo UST. They wanted me to return the UST back to china.
I contacted amazon and got my cash back This was after 4 months.

The aoostar bare bones could have Free Nas on it.
While the N5 pro should hve it's own OS.
