Red, Yellow, Green, Brown, Blue, Pink and Black. It's the General Snooker Thread!

What a strange tournament it's been. Ronnie played horrendously the entire time and somehow made it to the semis.

He definitely didn't play well and probably the worst in the semis but he played well enough to reach there. He was knocking in centuries before in the earlier rounds. If he was not messing with the cue so much it might have not been so bad.

C’mon Mark.

As always, at this time of the year, YouTube suggests loads of old snooker stuff. What really stands out is how little the commentators spoke. I much prefer it to now when it’s pretty much continuous rabbit.

Yeh Virgo actually annoys me sometimes when he goes loud, saying "wheres the white going" etc. Like he's shouting, annoying...!

Yeah, as with most sports now, the presenters seem to think it's all about themselves - I guess this is reflected in wider society too... Main player syndrome

Discovery coverage is slightly better for this but have ads so swings and roundabouts. I do like both for the mid session interval they do go into in decent depth so hard to pick between the two.

See Williams is doubting having his eye surgery now cos Anthony Hamilton said it messed his game up.

When you see him playing in this event can kinda understand him cancelling it cos he can clearly still perform. Making a big change of his sight could throw his game right out of whack.

Ronnie post match interview. I think he still got plenty in the tank and will bounce back hopefully. If he is hungry and wants to compete he is easily still be one of the best player around imo.

There's another interview from an earlier stage of this championship where he was feeling a bit more positive and says he'll be going coachless in order to play more instinctively, but will also have a sports psychiatrist in his corner. Maybe that's the direction that will transform him?

O’Sullivan says he is aware of the issues he needs to correct, and will have sports psychiatrist Steve Peters in his corner. 'The Rocket' had been working with Mark Williams' coach Lee Walker, but will have no technical help going forward.

"I know what I need to correct," he said. "There will be no more coaches onboard, it will be just me and Steve Peters, trying to help me be a bit more instinctive and just try and find my own way of playing. I will commit to two years, even if it is terrible, and will give everything to play in the tournaments, practice and rest and rediscover the shots I have lost. I have lost the ability to strike through the ball. I have been scared to hit the ball, basically. I have been quitting on so many shots, no cue power, no touch, no feel, just thudding everything and mistiming. "
