Mostly reinforces how pointless these sprint races are. If this was a normal race, there'd be a good amount of laps left for something interesting to happen.
A sprint race has no business making people pit - that’s my attitude. The tyres shouldn’t deg, it should be wet. It should be full beans for 15-20 laps with no holding back.

Sorry that's absolutely bonkers. If the weather changes you shouldn't be going around on the wrong tyre.
No no.. as I said before it should be a dry race if they want to call it a proper sprint. The clue’s in the name.

PS: I don’t really like sprints and would happily see the back of them anyway.

Sprint doesn't mean it isn't wet/dry/hail/snow, it means a fast, short race.

Kimi reactions saved a lot of injuries at Merc there. Wow. Redbull need a proper spanking for that

Having watched this a few times now, it's obvious that Kimi's reaction almost certainly saved half of the Merc pit crew from serious injury or even worse.
This isn't the first time there have been unsafe releases and defo not the first unsafe release from RBR.
In my view, the certain knowledge that at some point an unsafe release is going to cause deaths amongst pit crews, should not be a time penalty or a fine...................but should actually be an instant disqualification............no if's no buts.

Do we think Piastri cut the chicane on purpose prior to pitting ? Without cutting it Norris would have had a very good chance of overtaking him with DRS the following straight.

Quite clever if it was, he not only pulled a gap from it, he also got a way better exit onto the straight.

I did think that, I imagine Mclaren pitwall had the mind set of 'Whoever gets to the pit entry first, gets the slicks first'

I don't think that's necessary, the problem is that their constant leniency encourages them to take risks. They must penalise near misses.

I don't think he did it on purpose but I do think that kind of thing should be penalised automatically. Clear advantage gained. Didn't matter in the end, thankfully.

Albon summonsed for an SC infringement, Liam and Alonso over their collision (I thought they'd decided no further investigation there, guess not).

A release is either safe or unsafe. When looked at from any point of view, an unsafe release by it's very nature could result in serious injury or death to either pit crews or drivers.
The only penalty that will actually keep any team fully on the ball is the certainty of disqualification. This is serious stuff, drivers may well be and are prepared to risk their own lives...........................i doubt very much that pit crews are. They are not aircraft carrier deck crews, who know full well they are risking their lives every time an aircraft lands on deck.

Quali has been moved back 15 minutes.

Leclerc has been summonsed for driving a car in unsafe condition.

I’m still confused how Max didn’t get a penalty for being past the yellow line at the start?

I’m sure you understand my point though. They arbitrarily decide where the sprints are held. They may as well only run them at the desert despot circuits where the DTS fans can see the cars go “vroom” more times for their insta pages and it’s a 0% chance of rain :p

Yeah would love to see a proper angle of it. I guess it’s fairly moot now though.

I think the yellow line is there as a guide for the driver and is also where the sensor is. The rules though are that the front tyres must not have contact in front of the white line. Max playing the rules as usual. That said, so did Sena, Schumacher, Mansell and Alonso on many starts.
