No you just burn his shirts
Woppy you're the most irrational person on this forum. You know full well that if and when a Newcastle player does something remotely similar to Trent you'd be making all sorts of accusations against them. That's not a dig at you, it's just the way football is. Anybody trying to rationalise the thoughts and feelings of a football supporter is wasting their time because we're not rational. No Liverpool supporter could ever think of leaving Liverpool, especially not when things are going well so when a player, who has on many occassion claimed he's just a fan, does that then supporters won't understand that and or won't believe his previous claims.

We see Villa supporters booing Grealish, West Ham fans booing Rice and neither those clubs had just won the League and they got £100m for those players. Anybody expecting Liverpool supporters to pat Trent on the back and wish him well either don't understand football or are just looking to take cheap shots.

I don't know what Trent's motives are, whether it be money, wanting to be a galatico or he just thinks he'll win more at Real but his decision will result in him being at best forgotten or hated in years to come. I said the same about Owen before but it's a shame that such a great player will never be highly regarded by any set of fans when they retire.

I absolutely know that’s the way football is, there is no loyalty now and money is king, I fully expect Tonali, Isak and players like that to leave Newcastle in the near future as they will want to win the top trophies(something NUFC isn’t capable off at the minute), I wouldn’t call them a rat though.
With regards to Trent, playing for the biggest and most successful team in the world would be pretty hard to turn down, but this is also as much on Liverpool as it is on Trent, you were all talking before Xmas about him probably leaving, so if all of you could see that, why couldn’t Liverpool? they should have swallowed their pride and accept the offer that was on the table(was it £20m+), so you at least got a fee for him, instead of getting nothing.

Madrid want him for the club world Cup thing, so will still throw some cash to get him before that

I support Liverpool not the individual players they all come and go, whomever is there at the time I’ll support.

I loved Torres he went and I got why club was being run to ruin and all our best players leaving.

I get Trent going, played his best for us won us plenty of trophies and he has probably achieved what he wanted to as well.

I think Trent is replaceable defensively quite easily too so I’m not that worried. We can cover attacking side most likely by a different sort of midfielder

Anyway I Thank Trent for all his work and do wish him the best.

Do I think he will love Madrid, the city and Spanish culture most likely yes, the club not so sure there fans are quick to turn which could sour his experience if goes badly

He’s probably going to the perfect club though, he’s an amazing player going forward and creating chances and goals, but he’s very suspect defensively, so is going to look class in a team that rarely has to defend.

This is what I was saying to the next door neighbour, he may well find himself dropped against Athletico and Barca but against all the other teams in the league he won't be expected to come back and defend so it could bode well if he's happy to miss those 4 or so games a year, but as pointed out the fanbase are poison so one poor game could see him ostracised big time

You really believe that was a genuine offer? Everybody and certainly Real, knew that there was not a chance that we'd take £20m for him in January - we were going for the title and had no other available RB. The only way we'd have sold him then was if they paid an amount that enabled us to replace him. The offer was made for two reasons, give Trent (and seemingly you) the opportunity to say that he didn't have to leave on a free but also to turn the fans on him, making a u-turn less likely. They knew it wasn't going to be accepted, it was just for show.

I mean was my stance on franco's club for a long time so not much changed in that regard.

Definitely sucks Trent is heading there, no point pretending otherwise
Let’s be honest, there isn’t many clubs that are a step up from Liverpool(you are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and yes you are bigger than ManU) but honestly who wouldn’t want to play for Real Madrid, I think it would be a bigger kick in the nuts if he went to someone like PSG or Bayern.

I wonder who Liverpool will opt for at right back now, Bradley I feel can do the job ability wise but perhaps doesnt yet have the physical fortitude. So you've got to think that a right back will be on the to-buy list as well, along with a left back and a centre back, its going to be quite the defensive overhaul this summer.

Geertruida gets my vote, shouldn't be massively pricey an we've got a decent relationship with Leipzig. Also knows exactly what Slot wants out of his fb (can also play cb and even cdm)

i wanted him before he moved last summer
