World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

I have the taskbar set to autohide and a full black background, but other than that I just let it run its automatic panel refresh when I walk away from the computer.
I never turn it off manually by pressing the button, nor do I ever switch it off at the plug.

I've used it to work from home since it arrived in Sept 2022 (5 days a week, 8 hours a day), and to game evenings/weekends. It did get some image retention from the Lost Ark hot bar UI after 2+ years of playing that game on it, but that has resolved itself after not playing that game for 3 months now.

yeah, I thought it was minor screen burn and was going to RMA it in August, but it got better

Also, it appeared as slightly darker square patches where bright hot bar buttons would be, only on dark grey background like MS Teams dark mode

Odd question but is there a film on the screen panel for the AW3423DWF? My sons said there looks like it? Not sure if it’s anti glare?

Yep it's a glossy anti glare coating

So I got an Asus Swift PG27UCDM. Its a 27inch 4k QD-OLED with DP2.1. Amazing monitor. But I am also EXTREMELY upset about some micro scratches that have appeared. I tried to wipe the monitor yesterday with a clean microfiber cloth to clean some dirt and dust that accumulated and this happened at the top right corner. At night when I am gaming its not visible at all as there is no light source from behind. However in the day time as I work on my PC my monitor is placed with a balcony window behind me, its does my head in completely. When light comes in it shines on the monitor and highlights these scratches, especially on dark backgrounds (white or lighter can't see as much but its there). This is very very upsetting and I my OCD regrets getting a QD-OLED panel.

For the same price which one to pick?
1. Samsung G85SD (175hz, Samsung says it's 3rd gen panel, but hard to believe - why it's only 175hz then?)
2. Gigabyte MO34WQC2 (240hz, 2nd gen panel).

Extra hz would be nice, but maybe Samsung is overall better(especially in lifespan if it's really 3rd gen panel)...?

Do you need a KVM feature? The Gigabyte monitor worked really well for me, super handy for my work laptop.

Currently no need for KVM. Samsung has matte coating, it might be useful... otherwise Gigabyte seems like a better deal i guess?

The 240Hz is nice, I was able to let my 5080 go bananas.

In general do not use any OLED for heavy work usage, my Gigabyte monitor is in for burn in warranty. I have gone back to VA now.

Damn, that's real fast burn-in(as it was released just a year ago). I wouldn't use it for work, but still concerning.

It’s real, someone just posted that they got a launch day Alienware ultrawide (the super popular one)… after 3 years, they have mad burn in lines and they are just out of the 3 years warranty period by a few days haha.

Mind you, they did heavy work usage with light gaming usage so expected it.

Always buy Dell for OLED no other manufacturer has better warranty. I’m constantly amazed what they replace under warranty at work for us.

might be a weid question, but how do people go about cleaning these monitors? I usually use distilled water and a microfibre cloth but it still seem to leave some streaks and it doesnt look as pristine

That should normally do the trick, do you buff with the dry side too?

Otherwise you can try using screen cleaner product which I also sometimes use, which doesn't leave any streaks etc

I do usually! Ill give the screen cleaner product a try next. Its not a massive issue, just a small one that sometimes gets annoying!

I had a mild panic as I thought my new screen had tiny bubbles under the antiglare film, turns out (Gross) its saliva so I got a damp cloth and got them off!

Was probably my son shouting at the screen when he plays with his mates! :rolleyes:

Why people use OLED's for work is beyond me, it's like using scissors to cut the grass with.
