I signed up for the closed beta over 6 months ago so getting in now is highly unlikely.

Minimum is a 1060 and recommended is a 3070 so you fall directly into the middle, Should work fine.

Woot, Made it into the closed beta :D

Same. Not really a fan of MMO's these days, but this had me intrigued enough to give it a go.

I'm a huge fan of the earlier Dune games.

Don't think i've played any games for over a year but this has peaked my interest. Have spent a stupid amount of time in Ark but the threat of being wiped when offline really lowered the enjoyment. Another game I loved was The Division years ago.

Really like the idea of the safe space and the PvP environments that you don't need to deal with if you don't want to. Also seems to run pretty well and as launching as a full release rather than early access inspires a bit of confidence.

Been playing the closed beta, NDA so cannot say much outside of I am REALLY looking forward to the full release. It's basically everything I could want in a Dune RPG/Survival game and as it's a sort of MMO it'll only get better.

Seen clips of it and I'm sort of looking at getting it is the combat any good?

Beta weekend coming up. Will give it a whirl to see what it's like. Definitely on the fence about it being a game to enjoy or not, but will play the Beta and see.

Did you get access ? Even though they call it an "open beta" you still need to request access through the Steam page and even then you are not guaranteed.

So whats the feedback on Beta, my comments are on the previous page as to my thoughts in closed testing early on.
Has it changed, I understand no 1st person view, but has building been improved in 3rd person, was clunky during the phase I played, also melee combat wasn't much better.
Shooting was fine :D

Closed testing has been mostly focused on bug fixing, The larger scale beta starts tomorrow evening which should nicely highlight any issues with the game pretty quickly, The devs will be watching the big streamers like a hawk for feedback.

Feature updates from what I've read are being worked on to improve building, General traversal, Driving as well as melee and ranged combat.

Personally I think they should've delayed the game until Q4, With the amount of things that need to get fixed I don't think a 3 week delay is enough especially as more and more people are experiencing whole system lockups that require a hard reset.

Sounds like it hasnt changed much since I last played then :) thanks for the update.

Your home server is home to hundreds of players, with up to 40 of them playing concurrently

serious 40 people? amazing.... counterstrike is not far off that....

As with all games operating with populations like this, that doesn’t mean servers will never reach the 40-player concurrency cap. If that happens, you will join a server queue when logging in.

this is some gas lighting nonsense surely?

What’s important to note is that while a Hagga Basin server can support 40 people playing concurrently, the way populations ebb and flow over the course of a day means that it still supports several hundred people picking that server as their home. This has been rigorously tested during closed beta, and we have systems in place that will restrict too many characters being created on a server that is becoming too popular, to minimize the chance of servers becoming full

The term “server queue” is rarely used in positive context – but to us it’s a quality-of-life addition. Commonly, survival games don’t offer this, and you are left having to wait and hope you are able to click fast enough when a slot opens up.

Server queue can be seen as a positive guys!

Watched a once human streamer i like playing beta and it looked floaty and honestly garbage gameplay.
Melee combat was hilariously bad.

40 player servers is that a joke?

I'll look when it's refined in a few months probably goes F2P

Graphics and audio were extremely Villeneuve Duney which is excellent.

I'm a huge dune fan so I'm slightly meh'd but it's good it exists

There's a reason for the 40 player cap per server, Each server is connected to dozens of others in a shared "world server" and each Hagga Basin server only has a 40 player cap as you can build bases anywhere in Hagga Basin which is a fairly big place but if you had a higher population cap per Hagga Basin server then the entire map would be littered with nothing other than player bases, Most of which look terrible as most people have the architectural design skill of a wombat, I've seen some amazing bases but most look terrible as most people throw any old crap up and call it a day.

When you go to the Deep Desert the population cap of that specific server increases to 1000+ and the size of the map increases to 9x, It's roughly 6 times bigger than the entire map in GTAV, And you can also visit other friends or guildies on other Hagga Basin servers any time you want, You can even build on them, The only thing you cannot do is claim a fief to build on outside of your server.

Melee combat will be refined more along with pretty much every aspect of the game, As for going F2P in a few months, I highly doubt it as there's no reason to go F2P, According to one of the devs on the closed Discord the amount of pre-orders they've gotten is a little crazy.

Excellent, thanks for the explanation.

No worries, From 1 of Funcoms live streams -

As time goes by they said this structure will allow them to add other destinations as well as varied population caps.

Server structure as a reference for a "world" -

Hagga Basin - 40 players
Deep Desert - 1000+ players
Arrakeen - 40+ players
Harko Village - 40+ players
