Yet again F1 proves it's a business more than a sport.

Another driver booted after fans buy their kit, book race tickets etc only to now not be able to watch them race. There should be rules that prevent drivers being swapped mid-season and teams should have to live with their decision.

As for Flavio... his Wikipedia is an interesting read:

"...convicted of multiple counts of fraud in the 1980s"
"To avoid imprisonment, Briatore lived as a fugitive in Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands. He never went to prison and returned to the EU after both convictions were extinguished by amnesty."
"Briatore's Benetton team was accused of multiple forms of cheating. Although Formula One had banned electronic driver aids ahead of the 1994 season, it was later revealed that Benetton's cars had retained illegal software, although it remains disputed whether Benetton ever used it"
"Benetton's second driver, Jos Verstappen, claimed that Briatore knew about the software and encouraged him to "not talk about it."
... and we all know about crash gate.

He's dodgy, but seems to be popular in the paddock still. F1s own Epstein maybe. I reckon Alpine will be streamlined and sold on. Like good Frenchmen Renault love to quit F1. It's probably why they're messing with the drivers. Points = prize money to make the team more attractive.

I gave up supporting alpine this year. I've supported that team since Forever.
I just can't anymore.
They are just horrible really. Just a corporate machine changing people at all levels when things don't work.
Treatment of staff etc just horrible.

Its certainly taken the shine off f1 for me. I don't comment much now and happily watch races on replay on Sunday night.

But yeah I'm done with them.

We watched “The Seat” last night in Netflix (brought to you by WhatsApp…). The story of Kimi Antonelli getting signed for Mercedes (both before and after). Anyone watched it?

I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It’s a feel good story and there’s a few interesting tidbits, Bono is interview etc.

I thought it looked a little cheap from the trailers what with the WhatsApp sponsorship, but production values are up there with DTS, without too much “DTS” apart from a little drama around his crash at Imola before he was announced.

Briatore was always going to take the reins and he didn't really like Doohan either. He is a mercenary leader you would not want to be on the bad side of, I'd not want to work under him either as he can be callous and highly emotional.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some backhander deal with wads of printed paper in a brown envelope in a dark Monte Carlo underground car park involved. It is convicted fraudster and serial F1 cheat Flavio after all.

Everything I'm reading about his takeover is money related. Which is insane considering it's the bloody Renault works team.

Watched it last night. It was okay. The amount of WhatsApp product placement dragged it down, and it felt underbaked - more filling than substance. I wanted to know more about Kimi and his journey than it told us. The whole thing also felt premature: this is a kid who is yet to win an F1 race, after all.

Odd that a site as semi-reputable as MSN would publish something like that. I'll believe it when I see it though. Horner is ingrained in to the fabric of RB. Perhaps Mateschitz really was the glue that held all the various factions together.
