NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Did you have it mounted vertically?

I’ve had my master 5090 for a month and can’t see anything but will keep an eye on it. Hopefully it would have happened by now if I had a bad batch
I've had mine for a couple of weeks mounted horizontally with no issues so far. Keeping a close eye anyway

What's the warranty like for Palit and Gainward? The Forum thread says 2 and 3 years respectively but not sure how up to date that is? Zotac has that great 5 year warranty which is one of the reasons I was waiting for stock.
I’ve no idea how much has changed as this was 6-7 years ago now, but Gainward were terrible for me. They didn’t bother replying in 8 weeks. Eventually OCUK said enough is enough and gave me a new comparable GPU themselves.

Thanks for your input, good work from OCUK at least. Reading a fair bit online that is making me want to avoid both Palit and Gainward as well.

Think I will hold out for Zotac stock and make a decision then. Just secured a Switch 2 preorder so I will try and be disciplined and not order more toys until next month at least

Zotac 5090 are in stock. :)

Haha, I don't think I could justify £2K for a GPU to myself let alone the Mrs. I'm most likely going for a 5070 Ti. Tbh I'd be happy with 5070 performance, if it had more that 12GB VRAM (coming from a 1080 Ti). Appreciate the heads up though ;)

I see the Ventus 5090 is in stock as well and thats quite a good price £2100. How does it compare to a Zotac 5090 solid i wonder ( cooling and fan noise )

Check gigabytes sub-reddit. There is a new case where the putty just completely slid out and it ended up frying the card.

Mine was in process of doing same, after 2 weeks. I'm not taking a chance at £1400
Yeah - kinda put me more towards zotac brand now

Nah I’ll take the £300 loss rather than being scammed on eBay and all the hassle that comes with it.
I sold several GPUs on eBay and it was no hassle. If even 5% of buyers on eBay were scammers, it would mean on average you'd lose the value of a GPU 1 in 20 times, compared to CEX where you are guaranteed to lose the value of a GPU 1 in 4 times. You'd have to be incredibly unlucky to be better off selling to CEX. There are a few things you can do to lower risk, for example I set a slightly high buy it now price and allow offers so I can check their feedback and age of the account before accepting.

Taking all the cards I've ever sold on Ebay into account, I'm up at least £1,200, compared to CEX. That's the equivalent of a nice 5080...

Not happy with the fan noise from the Palit Gamerock - anyone got the Suprim Liquid?

Would have stuck with Air Suprim but got constant blackouts and crashes, in that sense Palit is fine, weighing up my options now, between Liquid AIO or just having a Waterblock on this Palit.

What are your thoughts, how's the pump noise? is it fine for someone who likes a mostly quiet system and is the fan ramp up acceptable?

On Air SOC it was noticeable but fine.
The pump noise is fine. It quieter than the astral lc pump that for sure but even then i didnt find the astral LC pump intrusive. I usually set my own custom curve to tailor my needs. I never rely on any cards bios to control the fan.

I am sure the msi suprim series are using different fans to 4090 but cant be sure. Even at the minimum 30% fan speed i seemed to recall the 4090 suprims being quieter at 30% fan speed.

If you set yournown curve you can make the fan ramp more gradual and you tend to notice it less.

I dont use the suprim liquid much as i am too lazy to swap it over. Might have to revisit it some time.

For all the reviews of the air suprim the quietest card i have is the Astral. At full load running something speedway or steel gonads i felt the astral was quieter than the auprim even though the reviewers say otherwise. It was also the coolest and had the most overclocking headroom.

Thanks for the insight, I'll be after a Suprim Liquid or the Astral then once my refund hits

The problem with astrals is quite a few of them have coil whine. Out of thr 4 msi and 3 asus astrals the asus astrals had worse coil whine than thr suprims. Only 1 msi i considered unacceptable.

Had the astral air not had the coil whine that it had. That would have been easily been my fave card. It was the quietest out of all my air cooled cards. The coolest running and had thr most overxloxking headroom out of thr box it was around 27xx mjz but would clock to 3150mhz. The masters all 3 of then out of the box boost themselves the highest the black one was like 2870 and the two white ones were like 2955 and 3007 respectively but they are loud and run warmer than the others.

The two suprim airs were like they werent the coolest or quietest but in the middle ground between the astral and giga. But they wdre the easiest to get at the beginning.

All of my coil whine on every 5090 I've tested is coming from the PSU not the GPU - so maybe I've got lucky, or my PSU is taking all the pain for me, worth a punt for me if that remains the same.

I'll be sticking with the Palit anyway regardless and can move it on 2nd hand when the time comes.
