Mister FPGA

Only just caught up with that video and kinda impressed with what they've done. I think if I was buying a MiSTer now I'd seriously consider one. Even the cheaper £204 unit would probably work for me (although you have to buy a PSU, or bring your own). I imagine it'll have solid availability, UK-made and hopefully good support if things go wrong. My only gripe although I understand it; is the 3D printed cases are ugly.

I have to be honest I haven't switched on the MiSTer in a while now, been too busy with other things so I can imagine I'm way behind on cores, AmigaVision and their X68000/DOS setups. Probably going to lose an afternoon updating it.

I really wanted to support these great guys but im not willing to have that ugly 3D printed box on display. I hope they can somehow in the future injection mould something.

Yea, it's definitely a negative that lets down their product. I get it and it's cost related. But even if they had to offer a more expensive version, say £50-100, or something for a plastic, or metal case. Or even make it mITX compliant so you can bring your own.

I did see a Youtube (Restalgia Video Link) video about this handmade Rasbperry Pi5-based Dreamcast mini-console which is also 3D printed, but is being sanded, primed and painted before being sold. Looks really good in the pictures and Youtube video. Direct link below.

That Dreamcast Mini has got law suit written all over it lol

Richard from Heber has said they won’t be making an injection moulded case because of the complexity and cost of the tooling, and the 3d printed case cost per unit is similar to the injected moulded case cost per unit, so its not worth spending 10’s of thousands on the tooling and setup etc

Indeed, it makes sense and I think they are genuinely trying to hit the lowest price possible. So that's the trade off.

Yea, not a licensed product! But more so shows with a bit of labour what I suppose you can do with 3D Printing. Without seeing it in person it looks very nice and passes the initial eye test.

Wow that Dreamcast mini is done incredibly well.
Edit: Just saw the GameCube too, must resist!

I've received my second MiSTer Pi today!

Running dualram and the memtests which I ran suggests one of the sticks is 140 and the other 150. I also managed to check out the Jaguar core, which was quite impressive! Looking forward to getting stuck into Alien vs Predator.

Where did you get that lime case ?

I currently own the following.

1 x Mister DE10-Nano

1 x Mega65

1 x Ultimate 64

1 x ZX Spectrum Next

Just finished putting together a Mistress 1200 (DE10-Nano) I have had the board for over 2 years and just been waiting for someone to release a new mechanical keyboard.

Looks nice but would be nice if there was a MiSTer one. Like if it's outputting say 1080p then that means non-integer upscaling, whereas you could take a native 480p output from an actual (or MiSTer) Dreamcast and scale to 1440p for use on say a monitor if not using CRT.

Did anyone get the mister multisystem 2?

I pre-ordered it. I like the fact that they are using high quality components and have done a proper pcb layout rather than a rats nest of boards. I've worked in the electronics industry and know the impact that can have. I'm less enthusiastic about the case and the proprietary SNAC implementation.

I'm tempted to go for the multisystem 2, can you use Bluetooth controllers with it (I know latency!) or do you need to plug in via USB?

This is what I want to know too, if Bluetooth a d other wireless controllers can be used.
Case just looks cheapo being 3d printed and not injection moulded. Although users could design their own case mods and colours I guess

If it doesn't include one already, you should be able to plug in a USB BT adapter?
