The 9070XT is killing it in Doom The Dark Ages. May not be as good once the PT update is released but the game looks good enough in standard RT mode.
It's probably going to be competing with the 5070ti/4080/5080 in every game going forward unless it's Path Tracing of course, it's a great card

Strange how the 4080 super is faster than a 5080 in those charts. Good to see my lowly 9070 non XT performing like an absolute champ.

im slightly confused
hte 9070xt beats the 4080 in some scenarios then? i thought it was jsut not far behind didnt realise there was odd cases where it was slightly better on paper at least
wow :-)
probably not in any use that i do but still lol

Not the first game if I remember rightly, some engines just prefer certain architectures.

Doom is a Vulkan game so maybe AMD is better with that Api. Vulkan was the successor of AMD's Mantle afaik.

i knew it was stupidly close on a few titles here and there but i didnt realise there was the odd case where it did actually beat it [albeit probably not in a meaningfull way and also not in anything im likely to do lol]
and yeah i guess it is just certain things work slightly better on certain systems and sometimes your in that situation hwere your small advantage in some niche area is actually suddenly more usefull than usual
not just with computers ive seen this in various types of tech over the years i just thought the 9070 xt was further behind the 4080 than it turns out llol

So picked up my nice shiny new Power Colour Hellbound today from OCuk, its been a long time waiting for them to come back into stock and I certainly wasnt going to pay scalpers prices, I have to say, im very impressed, although not a huge upgrade from my 7900XT, just simply the difference in temps is enough to justify the upgrade, the heat the 7900XT used to throw out into the case was crazy, and having only a small case (LIAN LI A3) which is already pretty packed out, the whole system was getting uncomfortably heated up from the GPU whilst gaming, ive not got any games to test FSR4 out on yet.

I went for the Hellbound for a few reasons after looking at many cards, I defo wanted the 9070XT, but didnt want anything as big as 3 slot, this one being 2.5, didnt want anything that required 3 power connectors, this one needing 2, and the main seller for me was the TIM they used on the core, its not going to require stripping down and repasting, they went for honeywell PTM7950 phase change material, which will obviously be genuine.

That's what I was thinking, it's got ~410mm if I remember correctly, my old one was 330mm. I thought my old XFX card was long at 327mm it just about fit in but this is 350mm which is crazy.

Took one look at it and was like yeah I can't even attempt to squeeze it in, time for a new case lol.

I bet money if you took out the front fans and the ones on the bottom with the other three still exhausting it would be the same temp

I have the black version, you'd think it'd be a quiet card being so large but mine is quite loud at stock settings.
