World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

I think there should be a thread sticky for OLED maintenance and care, as its often asked.

My AW3423DWF is coming up to 2 years now, and its still awesome. I dont and wouldn't use for work, its too good and the risk of accidentally causing burn-in is too high. I bought an IPS for work.

I use a little freeware app called Saver Starter so I can activate my screen saver using a hot corners (like Apple). Screensaver is Windows Ribbons for its vivid colours, so whenever I leave my desk it runs. Use F11 to maximise browser windows and avoid Menubar burn in. Taskbar is hidden. Wallpaper and desktop icons, as normal - dont bother using dark themes (unless the mood takes me). I like to change wallpapers often. I am mindful of watching media that has a static logo on screen for prolonged periods. Let OLED Panel Maintenance do its thing every 4 hours. Brightness etc, as per personal preference. :)

Frustrations, direct sunlight shows up smears! I have seemingly tiny micro scratches and yet only used microfibres to clean. Cant see in use, only when sunlight catches the screen at certain times when the screen is off. I've only used brand new cloths and tap water! Not sure if screen cleaning solutions would work.

Why people use OLED's for work is beyond me, it's like using scissors to cut the grass with.
For my case, I was curious, I was hoping current OLED technology could handle a heavy work usage, which is not the case.

So IPS and VA monitors still have a place in this world. I will go back to OLED when I retire or stop working from home.

So I got an Asus Swift PG27UCDM. Its a 27inch 4k QD-OLED with DP2.1. Amazing monitor. But I am also EXTREMELY upset about some micro scratches that have appeared. I tried to wipe the monitor yesterday with a clean microfiber cloth to clean some dirt and dust that accumulated and this happened at the top right corner. At night when I am gaming its not visible at all as there is no light source from behind. However in the day time as I work on my PC my monitor is placed with a balcony window behind me, its does my head in completely. When light comes in it shines on the monitor and highlights these scratches, especially on dark backgrounds (white or lighter can't see as much but its there). This is very very upsetting and I my OCD regrets getting a QD-OLED panel.

I RARELY touch my OLED TV. I have this 1 microfibres that I use for it and I only use it to gently "drape" over it to remove dust.

For my £200 OLED side monitor, I am the same but some reason less careful lol perhaps because it is much cheaper.

If I want to do a wet clean on anything that I care for, I use one of these. Comes in a box of 200. I use it to clean my camera lenses, like £2,000 camera lenses.

For me and the none use case for work is hypothetical.

Mine is based on a typical but imaginary scenario - leaving on a static screen during a call/meeting only to come back and find a burned image of Outlook or whatnot; by gum would I be peed off with myself.

But great you are using for work and reassuring to know!

Went for G85SD because of matte coating and maybe better burn-in protection.
Everything else is great, but:
1. VRR Flicker is a lot more annoying than i expected. Had it with some VA panels, couldn't imagine it can be even worse with modern panels.
2. Monitor acts like TV, often shows some tips and unnecessary UI. It took 10mins to setup it up til i could actually see Windows on my screen :D

Gen 3 is much better. I do more work tasks than gaming around 7 hours a day with the QF and as of now still burn free whereas I had burn in much earlier with the DW.

Yeah! At the moment I use a 34" OLED and a 38" IPS, but the IPS is getting on for five years old now and I suppose it's time to consider replacing it. At the moment I am not sure what with, but once you have used one it's difficult to be happy with anything less than OLED. Perhaps I will just replace the 38" monitor with an OLED. I think I might be happy with one of the 39" LG monitors, the 3440x1440p. Even though the resolution is less than the current 38" that I have, I am not a slave to resolution. Extra resolution just forces you down the router of new GPU's all the time. I am not sure about LG's 800cm curve though. Does anyone have a monitor with that sort of curve?

I have the same. I use the OLED for gaming and an IPS for browsing and work.

Thanks @Raymond Lin I bought a box of these and they are great. Microfibres leave a very fine film of sorts. Now using these wipes for my DWF and its got rid of the micro marks and smudges from water. Much happier. :)

Love this screen, the only drawback is the slight paranoia of burn in - I want to dust off my Wacom and get back into Illustrator but wary of burn-in from the onscreen canvas. But I think it will be fine as long as trigger the screen saver during breaks.

The paranoia is a shame. People are so afraid of burn-in, even me. Most enthusiasts are considering replacing their monitor after three years, so they really don't need to be worried.
OLED's seem to be in for the haul, though, because almost every new "decent" monitor is OLED.

Had my AW3423DW coming up on 2 years this November, No burn in and it's had LOTS of use.

Not looking to upgrade anytime soon.
