Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th -11th May 2025]

Again he has been there since 6, should you make him stay at club until he is in 80s and do every role going cause we gave him a chance?

you should want friends family to move on in life do new things, new experiences etc not expect them to do what you want under guise of it’s loyalty.

People just see things in a different way I guess. For myself as a person if I was given the opportunity to play for Liverpool it would be myself owing to them until they no longer needed my services. I don't see it as being shackled to the club.

He served the club well never dropped tools what you want to do lock him to the club for life , he wants to experience something different and Real Madrid isn't just any club

If you want to talk about loyalty how about Rashford ?

Rashford doesn't deserve to wear the shirt but not really sure what that has to do with regards to my feelings of club loyalty? Rashford is a really bad example of what it means to be loyal.

Because players having value in football is a thing, he would still be getting hate if he went for a fee no doubt, but much less.

I'm sure it's a combination of things, Real Madrid aren't exactly liked by Liverpool supporters either. No player these days is a servant. They are all multi-millionaires paid for by the supporters, so if their opinion is he's done the club out of a transfer fee to line his own pockets after them supporting him when the media and other fans trashed him for years, then they should be allowed that view.

Not sure why he even came out a did a video saying he was leaving, just a week or so after a title win. Everyone knew he was leaving so why not just leave it until after the season had ended. Just no need for the big highlight videos that he is going.

I’m not saying they aren’t allowed to have that view, I just think booing a player who has done what he has done is pathetic.

You can not like him leaving fine (I wish he was staying) but would I boo him after everything? No.

Burning shirts, giving actual abuse he is rat, he betrayed club is all abit ott imo

That’s not just him though is it, that’s club as well.

Is Amorim even the right guy. When ETH was sacked we were 6th with 5 wins and 4 losses. Now we have only got another 5 wins but lost 13 times!

Some seasons our points tally would have had us relegated into the championship!
It's the first time I can honestly say that I had that same doubt. He looked exasperated by the performance and his post match presser was oozing with frustration. He basically said that the lack of urgency (effort) from the players in the league is unacceptable and that the culture of accepting defeat is pervasive. He says that they play poorly in Europa League but fight for the win. He also said that playing CL next season will be a bad thing if the league form is not drastically improved. Pretty dismissive about the Final and almost saying it doesn't matter. At one point he even suggested that if things don't improve after the summer then someone else might as well be appointed.

He was flirting between saying the team is ***** and not fit to wear the shirt and self flagellation. Other than a complete clearout it's hard to see how he turns it around regardless of how the final goes. Probably as low as I've felt about the team.

I think he is lost cause tbh.

Less than ten years ago in the 16/17 season we would have been potentially relegated.

The squad we have isn't 17th in the league. Maybe mid table sure but not 17th!

He needs players through the door as soon as the window opens to even stand a chance but a) we are skint and b) we couldn't organise a **** up in a brewery.

Obviously I will be happy if we win UEL but at the same time think a year out of Europe would be of great benefit but then CL is an extra 60 million free cash so it is lose lose.

God knows what odds you would've got on Spurs and Man U to be below Everton at the start of the season. Disgraceful from both sets of players.

If we’re honest, the Premier League is now 17 permanent member teams and 3 yearly guests from the Championship, the gap is now just to big to breach, for an established premier league team to go down they will need to have an apocalyptically bad season.

Let's be honest, our game today didn't matter. Win 5-0, lose 5-0, it does little to alter the course of the season.

Everything hinges on the Europa League final - the pressure in that game is going to be on another planet. There seems to be some sort of passive expectation that surely we'll somehow win it, because if we don't, INEOS and Amorim have effectively come in and burned the club to the ground. The results have been beyond woeful.

Even if Amorim is a great manager, can this situation be salvaged from such a low ebb? I'm really not sure. Are they going to buy these new players for him when his system seems pretty much non-existent...

What a mess!

Its that attitude that - "it doesn't matter" that is exactly the problem with the team. That's exactly what Amorim said at the end. Losing at Old Trafford should always matter. Losing to a dog**** team like West Ham should always matter. The Eujoka Final is meaningless if there isn't a major clear out and complete reset in the summer. United playing in the Champions League with this squad would be a farce.

They are getting worse and he clearly can’t get a tune out of them. I don’t accept the not his players for the right system argument. He should be able to motivate them enough so they at least put tackles in. They look like a relegated side playing to get the manager sacked. I’ve been saying it for ages, they need to bin him off straight after the last game of the season.

I agree with all that, but things have been so bad the league is now irrelevant at this particular moment. The performance issues with the players (and possibly manager) are nothing new and well documented. A major clear out is definitely needed, will it happen? Probably not.

Trouble is, when you look at the state of the club, both on the field and off the field, what decent manager is going to want to take the job. Theres undoubtedly been issues for a few years but this season the issues have been made so absolutely crystal clear to everyone that no manager can still be under the illusion of thinking they can fix it. Its the proverbial poison chalice

I don't think it will be that hard, despite all the problems the club is still a massive draw in world football.

Steve Bruce would jump at the chance since yous lot don’t want Southgate

It looks like Amorim is in over his head and a transfer window isn’t going to sort that out.

What’s the big fuss about Trent? The lad can’t defend for **** but probably has one of the best right foot since Beckham bit of a mixed bag.

The way he was booed was ridiculous. It’s not as if the lad downed tools, kicked off and played his contract situation out in the media.

Outside looking in surely what Utd need is Glazers gone entirely not part gone party bought out etc fully gone get rid

Some Utd fans may argue ineos as well. Utd club is rotten from the roots. Entire culture needs a shift and that’s best done with new people in extreme cases.

Replace from top down this stage it probably needs to be more than just a few.

I don’t think any upcoming manager would be wise to take Utd job on, I don’t even think Amorim should have touched it.

However many a Utd fan would claim they would never fail like this well you are so some still need to wake up to that reality.

Cycling managers doesn’t work for the club as that’s been tried many a time and always ends up worse than prior manager.
