The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

I see people in the matchday thread are finally starting to realise what a bad state the club is in.

This has been obvious to most people for a while now.

I do think, as above, with a clinical goalscorer things could look very different.

Recruitment is probably going to be more important than anything Amorim can do at this stage.

I just worry that he’s been damaged beyond recovery due to these awful results. I’d like to see him get a crack at things with a better squad next season, but more and more people are having reservations…

This is what bothers me. His impact, due to joining halfway through a season, has been completely eroded. I hope he and his team can make it feel like a fresh start in the summer somehow.

I’m still completely onboard with him. The one constant over the past 5+ years has been the players and culture. That is the problem. Him bringing in one workhorse in Dorgu isn’t miraculously going to change things.

We’ve seen too many managers come in and struggle. People turning on him so we then just begin another cycle of managers is just plain naff.

His problem, and United's, is that he's basically had a year, will need two summers at least if he is unwilling as proven so far to be flexible about how he plays to get a squad to play 3-4-3 at a high level what happens if after 3 years he still fails ? The likelihood of the next manager in wanting a squad set-up for 3-4-3 is pretty minimal. It really is an all in long term risk.

No manager has got us close to relegation in recent years.

If things continue to get worse then he'll have to go.

Any worse is literally relegation!

Other people are happy that he joined half way through the season, that way he's had more time to rebuild and assess.

How many good EPL quality clinical goal scorers are available and are good value? How many of those want to come to United?

I genuinely don't know and it's probably not a question for this thread but it is worrying.

I guess the broader point is I have no faith in the Glazers or Ineos to do what is best for the club. Amorim aside, there are huge problems at the club. Huge.

Think Amorim just needs to gut the team tbh and gets players that are on his side and not lazy or useless as anything or causing issues behind the scenes, so thats bye to Maguire thanks for putting work in but your not good enough lack of pace just dosnt suit this formation, bye Hojlund because how you play football actually embarrassing it like he dosnt even know how to kick a ball at times, bye Onana because your an absolute liability. I think Garnacho has to go aswell im sure he a trouble maker behind the scenes and the farce with his brother etc just isnt good for club. Luke shaw its time to go aswell just injury prone and he been given enough time now.

This is just some of the players a total clear out needs to happen Amorim needs to be given a chance to gets his players in he had half a season and only player he signed is Dorgu.

I am however abit concerned with the results and how it going to turn out next season we should be beating or at least getting better results we have at home its a disaster at times.

Good scouting and calculated risk is the answer... fingers crossed :p

The EL final is going to be such a huge game, the stakes are just incredible. I think if we lose there's a good chance they'll sack Amorim and maybe Berrada too.

then we will be back to square one. Zero progress. He needs 2 seasons. He's had half a season already, get this summer window done properly, aim for mid table next year, as we no doubt will have some players left to move on and no where near a top 6 team. Get the second summer done and if its not happening by new year, then revaluate.

I think he at least needs until November time, if we're bottom third then fair enough, it's clearly not working. I just fear Ratcliffe wants much faster results and won't be happy to endure this for another year or so.

Signings are the key though, our record on that front isn't great.

I can’t believe you’re suggesting we sell our main goal threat :(

Ten Hag was got rid of because he "wasnt good enough for United" etc etc ....... meanwhile results last season look rather impressive compared to Amarin's efforts so far - but he gets a pass seemingly - why ?

ETH was in his third season, Amorim in came in part way and got 1 transfer.

Why do you think? Ten Hag had much longer at the club and signed a lot of players he personally wanted; these dud players have compounded the situation.

Surely people have to be on a wind up.

In todays other questions:

Why aren't Newcastle as good as Man City? Both are owned by oil money.
Why aren't Everton as good as Liverpool? They are both in Liverpool

Whilst it is an odd comparison, usually when a new manager comes in and the team do even worse than with the previous manager, questions do get asked...

The new manager bounce is a new manager fall down a hole in this case

In our case, I think there are fairly unique, very high-profile mitigating factors.

There does need to be a sharp upturn in results though, I like Amorim but he's not done well enough so far.
