*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

I managed to get a pre-order in with Argos very early, but worried I am essentially paying a lot of money just for Mario Kart at this point.

A warning to others, it is currently impossible to Cancel my Argos order, so I am stuck with it at the moment. Not sure I have the will power to turn away the delivery when it arrives which seems my only option now.....
That's weird. Is it just a Switch 2 thing you can't cancel? I've cancelled pre orders from Argos in the past by calling them up.

You can just return it in store?

Haha, yes, that would be an option. I am worried having the physical product in my hands however will mean I end up keeping it. However, I really don't understand what is so hard that Argos cannot cancel the pre-order.

Once a member of Fight Club Mario Kart World, always a member of Fight Club Mario Kart World ....

Has been that announced ? Not seen anything regards updates / performance boosts for previous gen games ( aside from BotW, TotK, Kirby and one or two other 1st party titles ).
As of April, Nintendo hasn't listed B3 in any of games with issues section of...

https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-systems/switch-2/transfer-guide/compatible-games/

It might be a case of they haven't got round to testing it yet, or they have but we don't know because I haven't see a list of games that are good to go.

I wouldn't bank on any and all games achieving better performance by default, just because the Switch 2 is more powerful, given it appears the backwards compatibility is primarily emulation based.

This is likely another reason certain games are getting paid or unpaid upgrades to a 'Switch 2 Version' - my guess would be that these particular games are being recompiled to run natively on Switch 2 (thereby getting a significant performance boost) and not run via emulation as the vast majority of backwards compatible games will be.

I'd guess even stuff with a Switch 2 Version like BOTW or TOTK would run emulated (and little to no better than they do on Switch) if you didn't have the upgrade pack.

Anyone else had an email from Nintendo that they are about to request payment & prepare for imminent dispatch ? ( I pre-ordered a Switch 2 Pro controller and MKW physical cartridge ) Seems a tad early given launch is still over 3 weeks out.

edit. Oops ... just saw @Plainsong post saying the same.

Think about it and you’ll realise why they have started packing now.

Imagine how long it takes to package 1 console and individually label it for you. Multiply that tens of thousands of times.

They’ve been making them for months and the consoles have been in the U.K. for weeks already. Their warehouse isn’t going to expanding its usual workforce 50X for 6 weeks to cover the launch.

Sure, I can fathom it will take time to process thousands of orders ( who knows how much Nintendo have ? ), but imminent dispatch for goods that are 3-4 weeks before launch ? Odd.
