Loving this thing. It's really great to have a nice car again and enjoy the school run even if I'm just cruising there and back. 310bhp, 4 drive, proper colour and can fit the kids, dogs & camping gear when needed. Lovely all-rounder.

Interesting wheels!

I don't love or hate them, they're just interesting!

Makes a change.

Really like mine too, although it’s the VZ2 rather than the 3.
Surprising how economical it can be on a long run too, regularly see 40+

I must have missed this, I thought you still had the Mondeo!

Thanks! I've only had it a month or so. I was going to keep the Mondeo and was looking at older 2+2s to compliment it but I quickly realised I'll still be compromising one way or the other but with older potentially unreliable money pits. Plus I'm 40 next month and wanted to treat myself. I do miss my MX5 and I'm jealous of yours, but I'll always need 4 seats otherwise I'll never get to drive it.

I bought the car not liking them, but preferring them over the other options. The vented parts between the spokes are plastic but at least that makes them lighter I guess. They have grown on me but you're right, 19" is too big. If I wasn't a boring old man with a warranty I'd put some money into something that matches the mirror and grille surround but that would look daft without some lowering springs etc. It's a slippery slope.

Yeah. I'd got used to diesel where no matter how I drove it the MPG was fairly consistent. Wildly going from low 20s to touching 40s has seen me in the petrol station more than I anticipaed. I've still got that new car fever though so it'll settle down soon.
The only thing I'm going to do it is get some felt lining for the door bins, glovebox armrest storage etc. It's a touch my other halves A3 has that makes it feel just a little more premium.

I do think they would look better an inch smaller though. :p
Said no man ever :D

One of my other loves, and stablemate to the Porsche GT4, is my 20-year-old Renaultsport Clio 182 Trophy (#165).

It's on its 5th engine, it's been a love/hate thing. It's cost me almost as much as the GT4!

Now it's back to standard, I love it. It needs some TLC cosmetics-wise, but mechanically it is running great. The perfect car for the local roads I enjoy.

What happened to the other engines on the Clio???

My brother in law has a 182 in black and he has just destroyed his engine due to an improper gear change. He's rebuilding it as we speak

Both look ace in red.
TBF the Porsche plate would look better on the Clio.

I can only agree, red looks great! The Clio Trophy was only made in that colour, so options were limited! The Porsche plate was originally on the Clio, but got swapped when I came close to selling it.

The engines have been the results of extensive modifications and specialist blunders. Long story! Over the years, it's had everything from minor engine upgrades, DTH throttle bodies, custom Jenvey ITB setup, forged and high compression, and high boost turbo.

Ouch, I hope your brother-in-law soon has his 182 back on the road. It's getting hard to find parts for these cars nowadays.

Love it.

I'm looking into potentially getting a 172Cup as a daily then keeping my S2000 for weekends/summer use or swapping that for something less practical like an older Caterham for a bit of fun. Just need to decide if it's all worth it :D
