LG G5

You won't notice a few extra ms; 12ms still means something is wrong, but no you won't notice the difference between 12ms and 5ms

Well it seems JL have a new promotion on that is heavily discounting the G5 currently with a lovely 20% off plus £300 cash back from LG ... 20% off takes the 77" from £4500 to £3600 , considering i laid out £4500 just 9 days ago I am less than pleased! so have been on the phone to them about a refund of £900 which is what the discount code gives , the lady said as its a promotion price i have to speak with a specific team which don't open till tomorrow but will be speaking with them first thing and if they can't/ won't do anything about the price i will then return the TV for a full refund and buy it again under the new discount price... certainly wasn't expecting it to get so heavily discounted this early

Ive had mine nearly a week now and can't say I've noticed the high input lag at 165hz , had a few wins on verdansk so it can't be that bad tbh :cry:would like to see another test done on it as from what I can tell its only Rtings that have done a test and recorded a higher number at 165hz and a few FW have been released since then and could have possibly decreased the number, if it is genuinely that much higher then hopefully LG will fix it via firmware updates ....

Really am enjoying this G5 though and absolutely no regrets at all , it is a night and day difference vs my CX , much better brightness and colours, and noticeably smoother with the extra 45hz :D

( only issue is I need to buy longer hdmi cables as they are now all stretched due to the ports being in a different location)

Would recommend using some black velvet on the center, to reduce reflections. My center is matt vinyl but the glare from the TV is annoying, and yours is gloss black so would be much much worse. Can't do it on the Panasonic BD due to heat but maybe some kind of alternative?

Yeah with this screen it sits a touch lower than my CX did and now just catching the centre speaker for reflection :o can switch the PS5 Pro and Panny BD around which will sort that side but for center will do what you said and get a cover for it :)

Well just got off the phone with JL and the only way we can do this new price is if I buy another G5 with the discount and return the one i have now so that's what its gonna be then as not just giving away £900 like that  and as for the 4.5k price i agree it is ridiculous and not a figure I would normally spend on a TV but did so on this occasion as I had a £2200 voucher from my previous CX so had to put £2300 of my own money which obviously makes it easier than paying out a full 4.5k which i wouldn't be doing otherwise, just genuinely surprised at how the price has been slashed so much so early but is what it is .

You can't get refund from vouchers? You'll get credit note or something?

So yep you are correct i will only get back the same i paid so £2200 voucher and £2300 cash, feel like just going back to bed today :o just cancelled my 2nd G5 that i purchase about an hour ago , only way this is gonna work is being without the TV for a few weeks while this is all sorted.

Richer Sounds have a good deal on with the 65" G5. after discount and cash back TV price = £2389.

Tempted to pull the trigger. But with some issues raised above is it worth it?
I would say yes its worth it , its not without its issue in HDR10 if you are really looking for them which has been pointed out in various reviews but in my honest opinion its not as bad as its made out to be and I have to go looking for issues to spot them but on a TV costing this much it should be faultless which at this point in time it isn't, saying that at times the pictures it produces are absolutely gorgeous and have certainly had a few wow moments when watching good quality content...

I am pretty confident the HDR issue will get fixed as the C5 suffers from the same issue so more a software issue which apparently LG are fully aware of and working on a fix but when is anyone's guess .

In 165hz mode it feels perfect to me , not saying the 12.1ms response time is wrong but absolutely not game breaking at all.

I am actually returning mine on Saturday after JL playing hardball and making me jump through many hoops due to me kicking up a fuss about the price drop and them not giving me any sort of price match / refund so instead its now going back for a full refund and will buy it again at its reduced cost saving me £900... idiots should have just given me my money back in the first place... customer service absolutely terrible, like trying to get blood out of a stone

Returned the G5 on Saturday and was issued a full refund today... ordered another G5 but this time at £3600 so a very nice saving of £900 but i still think they should have just given me a refund rather than making me go through all this hassle but was far too much money to just forget about so played their silly game  Turns out the 20% off is ending tomorrow night (3rd) so anyone who is on the fence might want to make a decision soon as looks like they will go back to the full asking price for now .

You spend £3000 on a box for your cat to play in?
She was sniffing around it as soon as it was dropped off so no doubt will be jumping in the box when I unpack it :D I won't be unpacking it until a friend comes round to help with lifting it on to the wall yet again, weight wise I could easily lift it but as its nearly 2 metre wide I can't exactly get my arms around it on my own

There is such a thing as a bad winner :P
Honestly I was absolutely fuming when the price dropped as much as it did , I really didn't want to go through the hassle of returning it etc but for almost 25% of the cost it was hassle that needed to be gone through  all's well that ends well

Just to add , I don’t think the price will change within the next few weeks as now this 20% promotion has finished they have now reduced the price around 4 to 5 % from msrp but will expect heavier discounts in possibly August with thr bank holiday or then obviously black Friday in Nov should be slashed again ... I think they will be safe for the next 10 days ;)

Someone over on AVS forum has retested the latency on their own equipment on the latest tv firmware and has found the input latency to be 4 to 5 ms at 165hz right where it should be ... Rtings have responded saying they will recheck but as i put previously to me it feels perfect in 165hz so not exactly sure which firmware this was fixed with as been quite a few since Rtings tested and this guy tested on the latest FW ... HDR10 Fix incoming this month and should be a perfect tv then :D
