Doom - The Dark Ages (2025)

A bit dumb making it £70+ and RTX only. Hardly anyone is going to buy it. A setup for failure from day 1.

Reviews aren't great either.

At this point with such a low player count, it's probably going to make a huge loss. Much like Dragon Age Veilguard.

I think it's game pass, I'm playing it on Game Pass too, makes complete sense, Game Pass is awesome.

I'm absolutely loving this game so far. Only on chapter 5. No bugs, 140fps solid with my 5070ti, looks and feels amazing.

I'm giving the game 10/10 so far.

Yeah agreed, it's really good value for money. I've already saved hundreds of £££ on games that I otherwise would have bought and not had it long.

Yeah been loving this game, done 18 hours now and on chapter 13. On 3rd diff, ultra nightmare i think.

Played it last night did chapter 2, was left feeling abit meh to it, no decent music when killing the demons it just felt flat.

Honestly my first impression after first two chapters after thinking on it are disappointing

I'm still working my way through it and still undecided. It feels very much like a coin operated arcade game, working your way through wave after wave is a very scripted manner, but that does have the advantage of being able to pick it up for a quick play and it is rather addictive in this respect.

I can't figure out what it is about the graphics that is bugging me. They do look visually stunning with tons of detail, but something is missing. It's almost as if there's a flatness about them or something? Kudos to how it runs though, I'm in ultra settings and it loads and runs fantastically.

Running this on a 3070Ti and not seeing the hype on the graphics, it looks good yes but ive seen better however the optimization on this is better than many so perhaps thats why

It feels like a FPS-RPG to me and yes I agree about the graphics, feels blurry and no depth to the graphics.

Aye, it's kind of muddy and the black levels seem high. I've heard HDR needs to be sorted.

I've now got a 5070 and on ultra I'm getting 200fps, which seems crazy unlikely for that card in a game, so I suspect there is something with the graphics being sacrificed to allow such fps. Also the characters don't seem to have good separation, almost pasted in.

I think it is and then you have the mech level as well
Thankfully got that one out of the way!

Still playing this and at times it's fun but then at other it's awful. Still doesn't feel like Doom to me other than the fact you've got Doom's demons to fight. The large open levels are alright but just feels like stomp about till you get to group of demons/objective, locks into to hectic battle for a few mins. Stomp about some more, rinse repeat and then play tennis with the boss at end of chapter. Feels more repetitive that the previous games to me.

Really hope ID makes a new Quake game next, feels like they've lost their way with Doom imo
