Assassins Creed Shadows - AC finally (at last) heads to Japan

Ive had a bit of an urge to play since launch but i know ill get maybe 20 hours in and get bored of the raiding outposts castles etc. maybe if and when i get a game drought ill sub for a month.
Yeah i know once I complete it I won't touch it ever again so for me it's better to just sub for a month or two and you can check other games out at the same time

I'm 89 hours in and a lot of it is rinse, repeat. Some of the story line is decent, some ok and a lot just bland.

I do find my mind wandering when I am making my way through yet another castle I've come across. For some reason though, I keep playing. I love the setting and the world itself can be stunning to look at.

Just started this last night.

Boy does it bring my 4080 to it's knees. Using Nvidia optimised settings at 4k and it averages under 60fps around 45-55 mostly.

Only played the first 1hr but seems decent so far.

I mean everything maxed at 4K gives my 5090 a good push, so I’m not surprised. Enjoyed every minute of the game, still not quite sure what happened with much of the story, but it’s a small gripe in the grand scheme of stunning sounds, visuals and fun gameplay.

I've run into an issue where after a while of normal gameplay whilst moving the game sort of freezes. My character stops though I can move the camera around. It eventually unfreezes. What seems to be happening is that for some reason it basically stops reading from the drive at its normal rate. Typically for my system its constantly reading 40 - 100MB/s some times peaking much higher 180 - 300ish MB/s. However during the freeze its only reading at 25MB/s.

Its really frustrating. No obvious limits I could be hitting, there's RAM and VRAM available

What type of drive? Which os?

Any reason why you're still in 10? Could be worth upgrading to win 11.
Never heard anything good about gaming on a win 11 system. So never upgraded. Obviously I've got a deadline approaching but as I've got 2 M2 drives on my pc I could go dual boot with a newbie friendly linex distro and either a debloated Win 11 or maybe some other alternative

Zero issues with Win 11 here, and I play a lot of games.

Still finishing off some side quests. I’m still in awe of the visuals, especially given how well it runs. Nearly level 60, will upgrade all my gear then wait for the DLC. I also enjoyed the new quest with the recent patch, was a bit more challenging.

I've been on win 11 since release. No issues.

I do believe MS put some work in to dx and direct storage with win 11. Although they have probably back ported it to Win 10.

Me personally first thing I'd do is upgrade to win 11.

Although I hate W11, it can be tweaked, rather easily to get back some of what you miss from 10, and I've never had an issue with any game running on it :) Nor any drop in performance versus when I still used W10.

Sounds like we have DLC on the way soon :)

I'm 92 hours in and not long started Act3. Though, it feels like I'm coming to an end. I'll get the DLC as I enjoyed the Odyssey and Valhalla expansions.

I haven't started 'The Silver Smugglers' yet but I have a feeling I wont be able to complete that group as I understand you're supposed to do it in a sequence... I killed the 'big bad' of that group before I was supposed to. Cheesed him on a roof. Oops.
