YouTube Premium

Isn't it £20 a month for 6 slots? Maybe maths is not your strong point, but that works out at £3.33 each.

Be it 1p or £1, you are 100% profiting from other people if you are then changing £5 each. You are basically getting others to pay for you and your family.

Saying all that, the bigger fools are the ones buying them from you, instead of just having their own for the same price or cheaper.
Listen, as I’ve already explained, my goal wasn’t to profiteer, rather to pay approximately the same as I was paying using the old vpn route. Clearly some people think I’ve done this for £1.70 profit :D
At the end of the day, they are saving £8 a month for their YouTube premium. If they want to set their own family share up, they are welcome to do so. No one forced anyone to buy a slot. If you or anyone has an issue, please keep it to yourself as it doesn’t affect you in the slightest and everyone involved seems happy :)

Regarding your country hopping method, you’re maybe lucky that your bank card or whatever you are using is supported, however myself and many others had an issue this time where it needed a payment method from the country you were buying from.

I've done the same for 4 months now but will go down the family plan soon to get my rents an account. How does the family sharing work for different ip addresses, do we need VPNs or something?

Everyone having the same VPN would cause less issue with their checks on the other hand people being all on different VPNs (rather than residential ISP IPs) will more likely trigger an exception on their "separation" check which seems to weigh geographic region most heavily over other factors rather than just the IP. From the way things are moving I wouldn't be surprised if they start clamping down more heavily when there is little crossover between IPs though in the near future.

Yeah, I suspect this will be their next move tbh.

Why would you not just switch countries and have your own account? Takes literally 1 minute.

People going via MM, using other people's Premium slot etc, can only laugh at people who do this, ridiculous
Maybe you haven't noticed but many in here are getting kicked out of countries more and more often and it is getting harder to find a new country.

But please carry on posting your ridiculous posts as it's giving us all a laugh. ;)

It is weird at the moment there seems to be a huge amount of discrepancy between their checks - some people get pulled up constantly if there isn't crossover between IPs every 30 days other people haven't had a problem for years as long as for the most part they are in the same region and some people have never had an issue with sharing it with family spread out all over the world.

Not be like Google to make an arse of something :D

The difference is that you now have 3 accounts for said £5, whereas before you only had 1 account via the VPN that had premium access.
I was paying £5 odds for a family membership before I got kicked out. Again, everyone involved is happy at the end of the day and are free to explore other avenues whenever they like.

Fair enough.

I agree:
does profiteering really matter if someone accepts the price being offered? no, IMO

clearly a forumer or two has decided that £5 is reasonable and subsidising Heisenberg was worthwhile. their money their choice comes to mind

the MM slots are usually paid for the full year up-front, so no liability involved.
and yes, my YT premium sub was bought from MM at the usual price £3.33/mth paid up front, so speaking from experience
is it profiteering? even if a little bit...absolutely yes

is it against the spirit of MM rules? dunno, not a mod, personally, i would argue yes it is

large corporations do it too...we just suck on our teeth, grin and bear it

chill out guys (or gals, don't get your knickers in a twist), not your money :P

This seems like a reasonable take. The sharing of a family account isn't for me at that price, it just leaves a bad taste. Each to their own.
