BMW and M Power Owners

Seems really expensive. M2s are not much more
Yep, I need 5 doors though. This seems to be around the going rate for lower mileage M140i's. I guess most have been chavved up/ragged within an inch of their life by the younger finance guys too, so finding a nicely owned stock car that's been looked after is hard.

Still mad money though (IMO) for the age of the car.

Fair enough. Makes sense. Not a chance id be spending 20k on a 7 year old 1 series though

The issue with * marked PS4S is that you can't get the fronts (might be the rears...) in F series M car size, and the non * marked aren't as well suited - there's more of a difference than people realise. The aftermarket version is quite wallowy in comparison.
I got Rears for my M5Comp this week. Next day from main dealer.. That was a £2k bill with the service. Last European road trip in it soon before i change it. Going to miss it for sure. Best allrounder but having owned since new its coming up to 4 years old, Think its the longest I've ever had a car.

Will BMW do a service 4 months early and update idrive accordingly? Noticed their servicing pricing is much cheaper than normal atm.

Feel free to buy my 440i GC ;)

Less than 20k and much more fun than a 1 series.

Mileage blocker should be picked up during the AUC process, there's more than one ECU which records mileage. Ask any dealer to show or send you the BMW Air printout, which is a recording of every time the key is read at any BMW dealership, it should also include the mileage.

I find AUC salesmen far more frustrating to deal with compared to new cars.
I don't think you seen my post from few years ago, when I was searching for an M140i... The worst sheds I went to view were at BMW dealerships.

Question about service indicators ..

Iv only ever done the servicing like oil, oil filter .. any other filters .. fluids etc

Iv just has the inspection service notification come up. Do people usually shell out to have just the inspection check up or do they generally just skip the inspection and just go for the actual servicing ?

I would expect BMW will be asking for my wallet just to have a look around .

When generally I know what needs doing and what doesn't need doing.

I imagine at least in part it depends on whether you have a warranty to protect.

I have them done by an independent because I assume there's some value other than to BMW.

My Warrenty is until march next year

Just spoke to BMW they said they when I book it in for my service the inspection will be Included and they will reset the light then

Just spoke to my local sytner . The inspection will be included when I have my oil/ filter / air filter service done and the inspection Indicator reset then which is good

The Vehicle Check service is part of the service schedule on a Condition Based Servicing BMW. It isn't optional - it is part of the schedule. Many years ago it was included in the Inspection servicing system on the older cars, but with the move to Condition based servicing it was made a seperate service element. It is often due around the same time as the more major of the two oil services, but not always.

There is a second service element which people often confuse with this - the Statutory Vehicle Inspection. This is actually the MOT - not a service.

You need to check whether the car is asking for the Vehicle Check service or just telling you that the MOT is due. If in doubt, ask the dealer for advice.

How can you tell? I'm now taking a closer look at the seat, the bolster has quite some wear too tbh... Thankfully It wasn't far, only 20-30 minutes drive.

I am amazed at how expensive these are. Mine is newer than that - and I bought it over 2 years ago - with lower mileage and better specification and wasn't much more. They do seem to hold value very well but I'd not want to be spending £35k on an M340i that was one of the original cars without mild hybrid. Not that there is anything wrong with the originals, but you don't need to spend £35k if you want one and if you do want to spend £35k on one then you can do better than one with only one options pack. I'd have rejected that car as too expensive when I was looking and that was in early 2023!
