Doctor Who

Well that was kinda dumb.
I hate how literal gods are defeated so quickly.
Well, as said, the writing leaves a lot to be desired, much like doing the origin of The Doctor, the "potential" is there, but it'll need a REALLY talented team to be able to make stories like that happen and happen well. And, we got the mess that is the Timeless Child.

Unfortunately, all we've had is one big bad after another being solved by the last 15 minutes of the last episode in each season all within the span of 5 minutes, using logic that doesn't even make sense "in universe", which is as bad as you can get really. There's handwaving something by which is often acceptable, and then there's what we got. (Remember the Timeless Child? The Doctor is not a Time Lord perse, and thus not govened by the same historical facts of being a Time Lord, hence "he" is not sterile like the others and can have children normally. So they messed that up already using their own accepted cannon, unless if they are trying to walk that back.)

Back to the point, The Doctor doesn't need to "win" everything. There's win by proxy whilst the Big Bad gets away, etc. so you can expand on them later as a continued renewed threat. But no... We got... Well, what we got. :( And I blame RTD for that.

The Rani got away though.

In many classic Who stories it was the same though. 4-6x 25 min episodes and the the last 10 mins of the final part the enemy got defeated.

I think in terms of actors acting a certain way its sometimes the showrunner but also possibly the dorector of each episode.

I'm confused now if Rose is the new Doctor, how does that work? What happens if she meets the other Rose? Or is it that she isnt Rose she just looks the same? Does it have to be someone alive/dead? Could the Doctor regenerate as The Master? or the Brigadier? I'm not sure what the regeneration rules are, if there are any
Don't think about it don't engage brain at all it left any sense of logic or reason behind long ago just go with the flow you'll feel a lot happier if you do...

Or just stop watching - you'll feel a lot happier. Reading in here about the current episode just reinforces my choice to stop watching.

Yeah, the lack of any meaning or logic in the plot is annoying. It shows a real lack of talent in the script/writing.

Ie.

Doctor defeats a God with a big laser gun then fixes/alters the fabric of reality/time by regenerating……..

Thought I’d watch it just to see how the season finale played out. Having seen it I’m glad I’ve not bothered watching most of the episodes this season if that’s the best they could offer.

Hopefully we’ll see a reboot in a few years time with an entirely new team behind it.

They was building to this episode all season and the big bad and he just lazers him and he defeats....a god or what is cocidered a god? Like really after everything he just lazers him for like 20seconds and it's done. Come on....

I do think he wasn't supposed to regenerate, but they had to once he said he was leaving. This was filmed a long time ago. When they got to the TARDIS with Poppy I think it was supposed to end there. With Ncuti getting a proper special ending there like other doctors. But they had to stitch something together at the end redoing the Poppy thing and giving Ncuti a send off as it was just so jarring and at least to me looked like a reshoot.

True, last minute script rewrites due to Gatwa leaving would explain why it felt like such a rush job and the ending felt so bodged.

I think you’re likely spot on with that assessment.

I did wonder why out of all the Doctors that could have appeared it was Jodie's then with how it ended it explained it.

Do we know if Billie is going to be a 'full-term' doctor or just a special like when Tenant came back before we get the 'real' doctor if they do another season?

Well if you look at the credits it say's introducing xxx, no doctor title. They have always put introducing xxx " as the doctor " on credits before like the war doctor. So I'm assuming no and it's some trick or something only for the special where they are bringing back multiple past characters to end the show on (assuming they are putting it on break that is) and she's just a placeholder doctor or whatever.

This time no introduction.

Also the line said points to it literally being that character (unless it's just for the sake of saying hello to fans) not an actual regeneration. Weird in any case lol

Think they missed a chance to tie Susan into thing's, making Poppy, Susans mum. Why did Susan keep coming up otherwise? would have actually been a decent development and bringing Susan's origin full circle. Maybe that was intended to begin with but with Ncuti leaving they scrapped it. And added something about time lords being unable to have kids for some reason.

Well that was mega!

JW - best scene she has done even though she was the Doctor for a few seasons!

"So much for the two Ranis, it's a goodnight from me" - lmao! Angie Watts was great in this.

Handing back and forth Poppy's jacket was emotional :( Great scene.

That ending, i did read BP would like to come back for appearances, but not full time - so doubt she is the Doctor going forward.

Ncuti finally got a great script and his "I am the Doctor" speech. Just shows he could have been good but the writing and "the message" dragged him down.

Yeah, the last 2 episodes have excited me about Doctor Who :)

Jesus, just reading the BBC article about Billie Pipper regenerating, I’m really glad I stopped watching this when we had a female doctor, I thought then Dr Who couldn’t get any lower, it seems I was wrong.

She isn't going to be the Doctor, even in the end credits she wasn't listed as the Doctor.

I think it's RTD just taking one last massive steaming **** on the franchise. Will be interesting to see when we next see a new series, viewing figures are awful for this series and if Disney aren't stumping up £100m or whatever it was for 2 series I don't see the BBC spending anywhere near as much money.
