Recommend a strong paint stripper

I hate to be really negative about this, but I wonder what you have bought. Much as though it keeps mentioning DCM, I am not sure it actually has any in it.

And it's against the law to sell it to DCM paint strippers without proof of certification. They would be breaking the law to dispatch any to you without taking note of your certification.

Legitimate comment. The product page obviously mentions DCM and the safety data sheet has it listed too:

3. COMPOSITION / INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS

Hazardous ingredients: DICHLOROMETHANE 50-70%
METHANOL 1-10%

I had to tick a check box to confirm I was using it for industrial use. Perhaps no certification is needed and self certification is acceptable?

I suppose the proof will be its effectiveness when I test it.

I’ve used just about every brand of paint stripper and the best was peel away, the down side is that it’s very messy and the stripped area needs to be neutralised after

Well, fair enough. A useful place to know. As you say, expensive, but it's well worth it if it's the legit stuff.

I previously bought one called starchem from ebay. That was certainly the real deal.

I really hate this sort of interference from governments. I appreciate it's a dangerous substance but it has a very common application and there really is no substitute. If necessary, stick larger labels on it but to just stop selling it is ridiculous. It's a bit like stopping selling knives....oh, wait.

I've used whatever the current formula of Nitromors is and it's been really good. Stripped thick old paint off a cast iron bench without any fuss. Have used it on some old car parts too with great success. For these things a scraper, wire wheel and wire brush all helped with a few additional applications of Nitromors. It's a green gel which makes it easy to paint on with a brush and it sticks

Well I have to say I'm quite disappointed.

I tried the stripper on the tinted bricks I have and then pressure washed off. Didn't do much.

I tried the stripper on an area of unstripped brick. It did soften the paint quickly but it won't just pressure wash off still.

The issue is the stripper does soften the paint but doesn't actually dissolve it. It just leaves it in a softened state but still quite well adhered to the brick. These are strong solvents they should be dissolving the paint into the liquid then it being water soluble it should just rinse off.

I looked into paint strippers a while ago but decided to send the items off for vapour blasting instead.

From my research Starchem Synstryp came up recommend quite highly.

Before and after application of the dichloromethane stripper and then pressure washing off. Both photos taken with same camera in full sunlight at similar time of day.

It has definitely improved it, reducing the white tint, but its still there.

Maybe another application, more agitation and it will take it another shade closer to the original brick.
