NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Just to chip in on the AIB vs FE: I paid £3k for mine in the end (Gigabyte Waterforce Xtreme 5090) and obviously I've been skimmed, it doesn't even need saying, but I was gaming today and my apartment prior to gaming was 27c indoors... 29c within an hour. My 5090 never got higher than 63c on the GPU and 78c on the memory, 480ish watts.

Personally, for me that makes the extra cost worth it. Today you can get the same card for £500 less quite easily, but I've had mine since early March so all in all, happy enough.

It's a different situation for everyone, right? Some look for value for money, some look for different things like myself. Personally I'm not too fussed about the extra £500 I paid vs the extra time I've had the card but of course, for someone else it could be a different weigh up.

Most people not interested in a 5090 say all us 5090 buyers are nuts with more money than sense. So there isn't really a 'good value' 5090, just differing levels of madness...:D:p

Fair comment - everyone has different values etc. For me £500 is a lot of money so I don't mind waiting etc

Hey all, I've had my eye on the Zotac Solid Core 5070 ti (GRA-ZTC-04471) for a while now. From the looks of it, there hasn't been a restock in about 7 weeks. I have been hesitant to pre-order because I worry about being kept on hold indefinitely. Is there any hints on when these may come back? Also is there any clear advantage to pre-ordering rather than waiting for a restock notification email?

I really can’t decide on a cheaper second hand 5070ti or 5080 I currently have a 3080ti and can upgrade for around 150 to a 5070ti which would make much more sense than 550 to upgrade to a 5080
That will be superseded by the super for a marginal increase in performance well writing it down it’s made my decision for me.

Is there anyone with a 5080 or 5090 willing to do a 4k video upscaling test for me in Topaz Labs Video AI please :)

I'd like to get an idea of performance to try and figure out if I can justify the cost for either card for a project I'm working on.

OK, just tried the free trial of Video AI 7. I have a 38 minute video, 25fps, at 320x192.

Since I've no idea what I'm doing, I chose the 4K upscale preset, with the Proteus model.

Right now, it's using approx 30% of my 5090, at 130-140W, so not sure what's going on?

I'll report back once it's complete.

Hi mate, that's really kind of you to pitch in.

I'm currently using the trial version too, but will buy if it's any good and I can actually convert without my home melting to the ground trying to process it.

I have a <3 min 576p (DVD rip) vid trailer that I want to test so I can get an idea of what it would take to upscale a 1hr 45min video.

On my 3070 trying to use the newly published local 'Starlight mini' model (which seems to be their best overall brand new recommended model) it keeps fluctuating between 2 day and 12 days to complete!

Their cloud pricing to compute is absolutely insane, so much so I'm trying to figure if it's worth me buying a new PC and card or even just paying someone with a new card to render the vid for me.

If you're game to run a conversion on my test clip, lmk and I'll send it to you so I can get a rough idea of conversion times per minute on a 5080/5090. I dont' want you to waste a load of time and energy on a 38 min vid if it's going to take ages!

Even a 5090 ain't the be all and end all for Starlight mini, but obviously better than those running with less vram.

They're also about to launch a new product for people to test which is 4x faster than the current startlight model when I messaged back they never responded if it was going to be local or cloud based.

As if it's local I'd be tempted by an RTX PRO 6000 or stacking up more 5090's 5080's if either works.

Otherwise looks like cloud is where they want us, also there's improvements apparently coming to Starlight model in the next few days/weeks to improve performance locally.

Sure, send me the clip.

The test with the Proteus model just finished in 22m 37s.

I'll give the starlight mini model a go with my video as well, although because the original resolution is so low, the max output is 1280x768

On second thoughts, maybe 1280x768 is enough :p

That's really interesting @Personality+

I had no idea about the vid gen ai scene before today. I only just started looking into it today to see what was possible.

Thank you so much @SuperElectric for your research so far, that seems nuts considering the length of your vid. I'll DM you with a link shortly if you're still game. Thanks mate :)

They new model they want to test will also enhance ai generated videos and even add to it (like magnific.ai and bloom from topaz which they just launched)

so looks like they want to get in on the upcoming action presented by Veo 3 and others.

@SuperElectric it seems I can't DM you, so feel free to DM me and I'll respond :)

@Personality+ yeah, I've been blown away by of the veo3 stuff I've seen come out recently. That seems to be focussed on creating something from nothing though, which is still amazing, but I just want to enhance some old content, which it feels like many of the providers don't care too much about at this stage, or at least haven't focussed too much on

Yeah there are other models out there, but they're not user friendly like topaz (which is how they get their money really) as it's got a mostly easy to use interface, I'd be using Starlight more, but I had issues installing it on my current system.

Veo 3 I've been having a blast with, just made a minute long video with it, but lots of accounts have exploded on Instagram and youtube with the vlog style content using bigfoot like characters and the like.

So a good opportunity for people to make money while new niches are unearthed :D
